I'm super excited about Saturday, I guess I choose a good time for my first outdoor excursion with such a big group.

Cant wait til saturday! but i have 2 questions
1) Where exactly are we meeting?
2) i ordered a cb but there are some shipping issues. does anyone know where I can run and grab a hand held cb? I can borrow a family radio as well, but is anyone going to be using those?

Just take the cleghorn exit off the 15. You'll be able to see where everyone is at from there. You can miss a group this big.
I think the majority of people will have 2 way radios. Either the regular ones that you can buy at best buy, or the baofeng ham radios that can be programmed for the frs frequency. So worst case I'd say just get an inexpensive frs radio from your local electronics store. Even Walmart sells them. We will use the ham frequency for communication between groups. I'm not a fan of the audio quality of cb but might be good for some side chatter. I will bring a laptop and programming cable for the baofeng radios if anyone needs help entering the frs channel into their radio.

1. 15 @ the Cleghorn off ramp. There's a large dirt lot to the right as you get off the freeway, can't miss it. If you look at the first post here you'll see the circular dirt spot.
2. Dunno. You can check Fry's they might have handhelds. I know the one in Anaheim has an aisle with CB junk in it.

Anyone coming from Orange County, I'll be meeting [MENTION=132593]Mikeson[/MENTION] and his buddy at the 76 off the 57 and Imperial in Brea at 745 Sat Morning. If you're coming from the south, exit Imperial, turn left, u-turn into the gas station at state college. If I get confirmation that more people want to meet, then I'll likely park next door at CoCo's which has a bigger lot. Otherwise I'll be parked near the side of the 76 where The Hat is.

It's really a cheap Chinese radio not made for ham usage, but does work for it. I will be up at the meeting location early at about 8am if anyone wants help.

Got a BaeFeng coming in the mail, and the weekend all cleared. Super stoked for Saturday! Looks like a huge group has rogered up!

Lol. I ordered another Baofeng and its arriving Friday as well.
So since I ordered another handheld Baofeng I will have one for you to use on Saturday if you don't find one.

I have a couple of the Baofeng handhelds and actual Baofeng programming cables as well that I can bring and I will meet you at 8, it's funny I was gonna message you to see if you wanted to meet early.
