I got the email about these the other day, they look nice. Wasn't there a thread a while back about someone that had these?

I saw this from their Facebook post a few days ago. From pictures, it doesn't look like it has an access door for easier oil changes like the bud.built ones. None-the-less, more choices of skids for us owners the better.

jangoforhire: I think that install is based on the skids for the 4th Gen 4Runners.

The main thing these have going for them is that they are less expensive compared to the beefier and better engineered alternatives out there like Bud Built's. I don't mean that to sound as negative as it reads. If I wanted better protection than stock but wanted a less expensive solution I'd definitely look at these.

I plan on selling my budbuilts and going with something a little thinner. Going a different route with my build. These are a possibility.

I assume (would hope) these are 4 piece. Front, mid, trans and xfer like the 4th gen set Here although looking at the flyer it only shows front and trans, doesn't make sense without a mid plate, but don't hold me to it.

If these include all the skids then I am definitely getting a set, if it is only the two then I might question it and just go for the buds. But for almost half the cost I have a hard time not going for these even if they are slightly thinner then the budbuilt ones. Still a step up from the stock. I will order a budbuilt gas tank skid since I already dented the crap out of my stock ones. Who would place the gas tank lower then the frame rail on an off-road vehicle, seems dumb?

From his thread...yes there are four pieces, but there are not four skid plates. Two of the pieces equal one of the Shrockworks/Budbuilt front pieces. In addition, another piece is just a bracket. If you're comparing apples to apples, there are really only two skid plates in the ARB package.

Agreed they are definitely not Buds nor do they cover as much but in essence there are 4 of them being front, mid or engine, trans and altough quite small the xfer case. And yes that is how Bud sells his set of 4

Apologizes, I stand corrected. Buds xfer skid covers the transmission and transfer case combined. his 4th piece is the crossmember. And no ARB and Bud are not apples to apples :nono: The piece that looks like a bracket is what ARB calls the transfer case skid

It all depends on what you're going to do with your truck. For me, I hit the trails pretty heavily and all my stock skids, including the gas tank skid, were badly beat up so I went with Bud. His skids probably have the best coverage area of all three options currently available.

Here are what mine looked like when I took them off after a year of use.

Gas tank.

Front and mid.

The three large skids cover from under the radiator to just past the exhaust crossover.

The smallest of the 4 takes the place of the thin skid attached directly to the xfer case. It covers the same area, and mounts using the same 4 bolts.



Don't know if it is permitted to mention a non-supporting vendor on this forum...

There are sooooo many holes in the ARB skids. Granted not a huge deal but I like the idea of Bud's having a smooth surface all the way to the rear of the gas tank. But yet I am sure the ARB skids are a quality product.

:iagree: The ARB certainly isn't an inexpensive alternative to Bud's as Bud's are serious skids for serious off roaders. They are certainly better than what the OEM splash pans offer for protection so I'm thinking of these ARB's as the casual off roaders skids and I'm thinking these will fit my needs nicely.
