Those are tie down points and I've seen them shear when a truck is buried in mud. Recovery points should be inline with the frame.

Please guys, quit trying to justify YOUR bumper purchase buy making disparaging remarks about a competitor's bumper.
*Nobody here knows - or does not know - what ARB testing is done
*Apparently most posters here have forgotten the material they may have learned in high school physics class.
*I have been involved in countless vehicle and machine recoveries in my 30 years. Very seldom are the pulls directly in line with the frame.
*Any recovery should have a weak link that will break or bend first and keep damage to a minimum.
Why you holier than thou off-roaders no doubt carry the perfect recovery gear with kinetic straps and snatch blocks and hi lift jacks and such, those usually only exist on your structured and planned trail rides. In real life there is wire rope and chains.
Several months ago I was yanked out of the mud (going to a job site) by a log skidder. I was stuck (in hated mud) and called my contact at the site. A few minutes later a skidder shows up, a guy jumps off, throws a choker chain through the "tie down" lol point on my 4Runner and hooks his winch cable to the chain. Why use a choker? Because his hook was TOO BIG to fit through my loop! He didn't even use his winch. He just dragged me to the other side. This is real world, not some fantasy trail ride trying to overcome obstacles multitudes of people have already conquered. I could see his face now if I had jumped out of the 4Runner saying "Wait! Here, use this special strap!"
ARB builds bumpers for these kind of people too. Think before you type.

What do you supposed the rating on the choker chain was? In all likelihood it was probably a purpose built piece of significantly higher strength compared to what Joe Blow 4x4 enthusiast bought (or even could buy) at his local home depot. I'm a heavy industry guy too, and 99% of what you see on any job site here in terms of lifting or towing equipment is rated for weights several orders of magnitude higher than a tiny little 4R. I personally wouldn't bat an eye at a commercial logger throwing a chain on my truck around here, but I'd rather sit in the mud than risk a pull-out from some red neck with a piece of rusty 3/4" chain he pulled out of the back of his bogger.

They just released it today, like $1850!!!
I like it also but at 191lbs, before a winch, they can keep it. With a few great aluminum options, there is no way I'm mounting the Titanics anchor on my 4Runner.I like it. Now, when do we get a rear??:biggrin1:
Oh, and 191lbs?? That thing is heavy!!
a lot of money to spend for essentially zero increase in ground clearance, and a loss in approach angle given the additional front overhang
