ARB Compressor question

Awesome thanks! As long as this thing is capable of filling up 33" + tires in a reasonable amount of time I will be getting it.
So I like the location, but the bracket is pretty redneck (although obviously functional). I'm not sure how this was connected to the firewall (I can see 2 bolts, but they likely were not factory mounting points).
I took a quick cursory glance in that area in my LE and noticed 2 threaded bolt points on the fender wall and 1 on the top of the wheel well. So my though is, what about creating a "partition" bracket that connects to those 3 points and mounts the compressor with its back against that (the back of the compressor faces the front of the truck)? I don't have the compressor here or the manifold kit, so I can't hold it in that position to see if that will work and mock up a bracket if it does.
IF that works, it would be a very simple bracket AND a direct bolt in without having to worry about possibly relocating hoses on the firewall.
Thoughts anyone?

Is the additional manifold kit recommended or really necessary?

The manifold is used to adapt the compressor to the locker solenoids. It has 4 ports, (1) in, (2) solenoid and (1) user (could be used for inflating tires).
The big issue for everyone seems to be mounting it, under hood or elsewhere. How to design the mounting brackets. This thing is heavy for it's size and needs to be mounted allowing access to the filters (black end-cap pieces in the first pic). So if you mount it upright, along with basic brackets you're going to want want brackets to transfer weight from the top of the compressor to the chassis so it doesn't try to rip loose under repeater acceleration and braking.
I plan on mounting mine on the passenger side at the firewall but with the curve of the wheel-well I haven't figured out a mounting system that will hold up long term (think lasting through WWIII).

Thanks guys... yeah the ARB lockers are solid. I have had one on my 94 Toy Pickup since it was new. Once you have one it's hard to go without. Looking forward to this new compressor though, no way I could air up tires with the old one.
phillyd2 - I remember seeing you had some photos of yours mounted but cannot seem to find again. Can you post here, and I am assuming a custom mounting bracket was made to fit it where you did? I take it that it's solid, as in will "last through WWIII"?

Just had mine mounted last week. The shop made a great bolt on bracket that looks really professional. He said he would be willing to make more for some people using mine as a reference.

I'm not making anything off this, just trying to support a local fabricator. Can't give any info on cost, it did cost me a pretty penny, but I'm sure it will be cheaper for anyone else as they already have the design work out of the way.

That's looking nice Jangoforhire! Did they have to reroute any of the hoses? Looking forward to seeing more detail pics.

Do you guys notice the compressor putting off significant heat? I am thinking about mounting my OW HD compressor, but that thing gets damn hot after filling up all four tires. I am not sure that I want it sitting in the engine bay that hot as it likely will not cool down. Doubt it would matter anyway, but it bothers me.

I'll get some more detailed pictures up soon in my build. I honestly haven even taken a close look at it yet...been very busy with some stuff. After this coming wednesday I will have a lot more time and get some better pics up for you guys.
I'm not sure about the compressor itself putting off a lot of heat, but I can tell you that the manifold next to the engine gets VERY hot just from the engine running. I might come up with a heat shield or something. I think someone on here made a heat shield for a compressor...maybe Antman? I'm not sure.

During a recent outing I decided to leave my compressor running as I was always engaging the lockers. Total time I guess was maybe 4 hours. Everything worked flawlessly so I don't think heat will be a issues especially as most (including me) will only run it for much shorter spurts to air up tires. With lockers the compressor does its job so fast that leaving it on as I did is not needed. I was just pushing it to see what would happen.

yes that's the manifold.... also. for those buying a compressor, also buy a good deflator. I really wished I had one of those at the summit.. so much faster and easy to go DOWN to the right tire pressure.

Yeah I got these deflators below and they work great. The easier it is for me to air up/down, the more likely I am to do it in the first place.

I do, I have a TON of air connections/adapters/and quick connects sitting around here that I have ordered. I just finished wiring the compressor today but I haven't put in the air lines yet. I am splitting off one of the outputs for a quick connect in the front and one in the rear. Should be done soon!
