Arb fridge for 356 plus free shipping

Ordered Cancelled by JC Whitney

Ok I just got a call from JC Whitney and was informed that my order has been cancelled and with all the orders with the same price because of pricing error. They will be updating the price on their website once they determined from their supplier the correct price. All pending charges will be reverse/cancel or credited back to my account. And so it goes.

yeah it official. i just got the call as well stating that JCW couldn't fulfill the order. But......the cowards blamed their supplier saying that it was them who had recently increased their price on the item and now they were unable to sell the fridge at the listed cost. Brutal.

That's interesting. That undercuts the argument that it was a pricing error or accident. Difficulty sourcing inventory at a price that leads to profit is far less likely to justify them cancelling the orders. I don't think it will lead to getting the fridge at the price, but it would certainly justify some sort of customer goodwill offers -- perhaps store credit or some other incentive?

Since three days have gone by and the webpage has not been corrected I am starting to think that their internet person was disgruntled and quit. But before they left they created some problems for JCW.

Most of those places don't run their ecommerce sites in-house. Usually contract it out to a third party.

Yep. Probably the case and they are probably “working on a fix.” In the meantime... just got my cancel order. Not surprised. Would have been the deal of the decade, but I was pretty sure after a day or so it wasn’t going to happen. Still a great fridge and I plan to get one in the next couple months.

Okay. My experience at my company is that we do ours in-house. And most of my mod vendors do theirs in-house. That is just my experience. And it is not uncommon to witness sabotage.

I was suggesting this because if they still had website knowledge in-house they should correct the price or take down the items.

Hmmm....I got a headache just reading this....

Yea, I got my cancellation email today as well. I called to inquire about purchasing the item still and, if it was possible, what the price would be. It was like talking to a wall. The staff is completely clueless and they claim not to know when I would be able to purchase this item or how much it would be. She could not explain why it was still on the website for the "wrong" price either. Her only recommendation if I was interested in purchasing this item was to keep calling back. She could not even give me a timeframe to call back. Pathetic...

Most likely an outsourced call center. The person you talked to probably fields calls for 100s of companies, who they "work for" probably comes up in a field of their call center application along with the rest of your call information.

Sorry, but if you want any sort of service, you are going to have to pay for it, and it is going to be built into the price of the products you buy. If you pay $800+ for your ARB fridge, you should expect some customer service, in addition to receiving the product you paid for.

If you try to get in on a scam, or completely obvious pricing mistake, and expect to be catered to, I have some unfortunate news for you.

To be fair I've ordered from Them before and they sent the wrong product and it was the most painful experience to get it returned and get the right thing, haven't shopped with them since.

Yea, it is obvious they are an outside company and I did not expect to get this item for the listed price, but put me in touch with someone who can actually answer some simple questions. I hardly consider this a "scam." I simply pressed add to cart and paid for the item in the cart. It was not my error.

By your tone it seems like you are frowning on those who tried to purchase this item. I don't think that it necessary. Not trying to argue with you, but I, along with some highly respected members on this forum, tried this. It was deemed to be an error and we moved on.

I can agree to disagree here. I don't fault you for having your opinion. In this case, when the first few of us ordered, we were unsure if there actually was a mistake. It is possible in some cases for companies to liquidate certain products. After a couple of days it became obvious it was a mistake, but our orders were already in. I don't think any of us had any evil intent in this matter.

Ok, now we can all hug and make up. As for me, I need to think of what else to buy for $350. This money was already spent as far as my wife was concerned:banana:
