ARB Slider on the Sliding Cargo Tray?

Has anybody successfully mounted the ARB slider on the sliding cargo tray? I have found that some folks were apprehensive due to the quality of the tray but has anyone done it now? If not, how are y'all tying down the fridge to the cargo tray in such a way that you can still pull out the tray?

I'm confused, do you want to put a sliding fridge on the sliding tray? If so that may not be a great idea. Simply mounting the fridge to the tray would likely be a better option. Or remove the sliding cargo tray all together.

Sorry if I was confusing.

I want to either mount the slider on the cargo tray so that I can slide the fridge out even when the back is loaded as it usually is (I would not be extending both trays) OR I want to tie it down directly to the sliding tray. I would probably prefer to tie it right down to the cargo tray because that slider is so expensive but I am wondering in that case how people are anchoring it. The anchors provided in the truck would prevent you from sliding the tray out and they are certainly not optimally located.

Some people had said they didn't mount the slider on the tray because the tray was thin and questionably dependable. I would think that issue would be the same if I mounted anchor points on the tray.

I am really just looking for any idea of securing the fridge on the cargo tray, with or without the slider, where the cargo tray can still be used.

I'd mount the fridge directly onto the factory sliding tray. There's no way the tray would be able to handle the added stress of a loaded fridge on a fridge slide due to the material it's made of.

Ok, and that is the way I was heading, but that begs the question of how to mount, or rather tie down, fridge to the tray. The ARB slider in my instance would serve two purposes: 1) allow me to slide the fridge out when I can't slide the whole tray out and 2) provide tie down points for the fridge itself on the slide. This second point is the one I'm trying to answer here.

All I have seen so far is someone (I forget where, I'm sorry to not credit him) using a mac's tie down retaining strip and anchoring to that. My concern I was trying to answer here was weather the tray will provide the structure needed to secure the weight of the fridge with anchor points mounted to the tray itself. People had thought the tray could not stand up to the mounting of the slide, but in terms of anchoring, holding up to mounted anchors would have the same issues, i.e. the material and structure of the tray not supporting it / holding it in or down.

I laid down L-Track on my sliding tray. I have 2 1/2 inch machine screws going into a 1 inch strip of aluminum with a washer. It is really solid, Im pretty confident in it as its pulling against that large of a surface area underneath instead of just a 1inch or so washer.

I was thinking about putting a small removable slide with a stove slot and cutting surface area that would bolt into the L-Track using these:

But as it is now its been really solid.

Assuming you have an ARB fridge, you can bolt the fridge directly to the factory tray. The ARB fridge has removable rubber pucks that function as isolation dampners on the bottom. They mount via hex key bolts. You can get longer bolts at a hardware store, measure and drill holes in the factory slider, and bolt the fridge directly. I did this and it worked great. That factory tray is plenty strong for this. You'll have to spend some time analyzing how to position the fridge to avoid drilling through the metal skeleton that the factory slider sits on, look underneath the slider and you'll see what I'm talking about. Hope that makes sense.

I just checked and don't have any pics of it mounted, but it was positioned all the way at the front of the slider (rearmost from front to back) flush with where the carpet meets the hard plastic endpiece. It was nearly flush with the passenger side edge of the tray. This was with a 50qt ARB fridge. I mounted it on the passenger side so when the back is fully loaded with gear you maintain some visibility looking back, assuming you don't stack gear on top of the fridge.

[MENTION=96425]JSparky[/MENTION] I did not know that there were feet on the ARB that could be removed to mount it. But I really want to keep it in a way I can easily remove it of need be so the tie down seems like the way to go for me. I need to see what these look like though, maybe I can figure out a quick release or something.

The L Track system looks great, not unlike the mac's tie downs I saw someone else had used, except the L track seems to fix two of my small problems - it comes in black and in shorter lengths.

I will likely try the L Tracks. I believe what I will do is try to mount one track horizontally along the edge of the plastic lip of the tray and then one on the rear of the tray, running the entire length, or close to, so I can use it to tie down the fridge and anything else I may have in there as well. So opposite direction of [MENTION=129252]jmswts[/MENTION]. I se they sell them in 24" and 48", I need to measure the tray but I am guessing offhand I would need something more like a 36" so either I can cut one down or use a couple smaller ones.

I will let y'all know what I decide and show you how it works out. I appreciate the tips and am still all ears if anyone else has anything to offer.

Quickly. Is the sliding cargo tray installed at factory or US port? Because I ordered my tep and the sliding cargo was not an option. No 3rd row seats obviously. Ordered through a buddy that's a 5 state regional manager. But I've been bugging him too much lately to ask the 100001 question.

I am pretty certain it is factory.

That's what I thought but then looked at side rails, bug screens, the front film, wheels, etc. Those are added at the port. Maybe that's why it takes 30 days from port to dealer.

All that stuff makes sense to me to be added at the port. They are optional / upgrades that do not affect the initial build of the truck. On the other hand, the cargo floor with the cargo tray and the cargo floor without it seem to be slightly different so that whether it was a tray truck or not is determined at initial build. I believe this is the case anyway. I still think the tray is factory, but I could be wrong. Also, before my 4R had reached the states I had requested no cargo tray but it was a no-can-do. If it was a port add on they could have simply not done it.

Just to update everyone who gave very helpful advice, I received the ARB and test fit it in the truck. I reclined the 40 seat back to its first position and pushed the fridge back as far as it would go. (My kids love the reclining rears for sleeping, so I wanted to maintain full recline for the 60 seat and half recline for the 40.) That left the front of the ARB right at the plastic lip of the tray, so the L Track in front looks like a no go. Seeing it in there though it looks like I can tie the front down to the tray handle itself. Not sure about the rear, it would be wedged in pretty good with the seat or I may add an L Track back there I suppose. Thanks for y'all's tips.
