Sounds crazy i know haha. Anyway , I installed a headlight harness from eBay. I forgot the seller but it’s well made . I believe he’s a member. Anyway I put some new Sylvania in. What a difference! But now they may be too bright. I’m getting flashed a lot. This thing is lighting up signs blocks away haha. Not sure if i should try a different bulb . Opinions needed , thanks

If lots of people are flashing you, then I think you know the answer! How's your aim?

Is there a way to test that? I’ve never messed with it in the 3 yrs I’ve owned but I’m second owner. Not sure what first owner did.

That systematic chart is super swell, but if you've got a bit of time, you could do it my(and many others') way:
1. Find a wall, fence or other vertical structure that you can park the car in front of. 5, 10, 15 feet away should be fine. Level ground makes this better.
2. At night, park with the headlights shooting straight at the wall. Note where the car is in relation to the wall.
3. Place pieces of tape or small marks on the wall where the headlight beams are hitting it.
4. Adjust the aim of the headlights up or down, left or right. Since you already know, or at least presume, yours are aiming too high, adjust them downward.
5. Go for a drive and check the visibility of the road.
6. Readjust as/if necessary. Be prepared to come back a day or a week later to make a final tweak once you've driven it around a little.

Harness? What is this thing you speak of? Does it use a relay to use the headlight switch and pull power directly from the battery? I've been told that ups the voltage and brightness.

Link?

Thanks everyone. The place that does my tire rotations and oil changes offers this service. Gonna try and drop it off and let them adjust. I don’t have a link but you can search headlight harness on eBay and it will bring it up.

Isn't that how the stock setup works? I assume it's just a larger gauge wire, which will not increase the voltage but may make a slight difference on voltage drop. Sometimes a new harness is required for using higher output bulbs so you don't overheat the stock harness.

im curious to see what this harness looks like...been wanting to get brighter headlights without going the projector route.

I don't think you'd see a noticeable difference with just a harness upgrade

You're very wrong. Depending on the car it can make a staggering difference. I come from the Mk1 VW world and relaying headlights is a very common upgrade. When I did mine the light output nearly tripled, maybe more.

If we are talking about halogen lights here, wouldn't the longevity of the bulbs be affected by allowing more power with an upgraded harness?

I thought it was known the factory lights were horrible. Mine were almost nonexistent. I have one on my Mercury for a year with no problems.

Did you do the bulbs and the harness at the same time or in steps? I already have new housings and bulbs, wondering how much the harness will help as well.
