Are there any SUCCESS stories with KO2’s balancing? (Window shopping for now)

When I wear down my factory Geolandars, I would like to mount a set of KO2’s in 275/55R20 on my Nightshade.

Seeing some comments insisting they are a pain to balance for the 4Runner, and haven’t seen much positive.

I am creating this thread specifically to collect and consider success stories (I’ll even take “my buddy” stories) that can detail exactly how any issues were overcome if they didn’t balance perfectly the first time.

I’ve never experienced balancing issues with KO2’s. I’ve used them on my Tacoma previously and now I’ve run 265’s and now 285’s on my 4Runner.

The KO2's on my 4Runner have over 50K miles on them and I also have never experienced any balancing issues.

Regular rotation seems to be the key...

I have had KO2s on my Jeep Wrangler and my 4Runner and I have never had a problem with balance.

Some what related but k02’s bead does no sit flush with scs 38mm wheels. Leaves like 1/4 gap.

I am on my 2nd set of KO2 tires. No problem with either set and when these wear out I will put on the 3rd set. They are the perfect tire for my needs.

You will find balancing problem stories for pretty much any offroad biased tire on the internet.

Two sets on my boy's Tacoma, one set on my girl's Tacoma, three sets on my '08 4Runner, and a set on my '20 4Runner. Out of all these, only one set on my '08 4Runner had a small issue that was fixed with a second round of balancing.

I believe the issue of balancing is when people get overrated load index LT tires. I'm going to guess the KO2’s in 275/55R20 rated at 115/112will be fine , just as 265/70/17 in 112/109s would be fine for a 17" rim.

I drove my self crazy doing tire research for almost a year and am still learning. I ended up with Duratracs since i see some snow and they seem to fit my needs best.

Could not get KO2s to balance

Hi,

I bough a set from Discount Tire and after 4 tries gave up on trying to balance them. Bought some Nitto's and they have been smooth. Not sure what happened with the KO2s as I see them everywhere. However they made my steering wheel shake like a washing machine. DT couldn't balance them, the Toyota dealer ship couldn't do it either. I had them for about two months and they performed well off road. However I couldn't put up with the shaking.

I had a 2013 FJTT that came with them, they were fine.
I had a 2014 SR5P that had them, they were fine.
I currently have a 2021 that were installed on it before I took possession and they are fine.

Needless to say they have been good for me.
It’s all about the quality of balancing for any LT or MT tire in my honest opinion.

To my recollection you’ve never been in any of my vehicles, so you really have no knowledge of my experiences with any KO2’s, empirical data or not.

You are correct, I’m just forming my opinion based on the hundreds of replies on a multitude of threads across several forums that have all described the K02 as troublesome when dealing with balancing, wheel vibes etc. you can’t possibly think that all these people are imagining things solely based on your own experiences?
