Are wheel locks worth it?

I just got some Method 701 wheels for my 3rd gen.

Is it worth it to get wheel locking lug nuts?
Is anyone dealing with theft of wheels?

I feel like there are more expensive and coveted wheels out there that thieves would want over some $240 rims?

It’s not like wheel locks stop theft, they are just a slight inconvenience. I figure if anyone wants your wheels, they will have already purchased a $6 key.

Thoughts?

itll slow them down a little if they really want it.

do you have an alarm system? add a tilt sensor so when they do jack the truck up, the alarm goes off. you can set it at 1.5 or 3 degree of tilt to activate.

No… it's easily defeated, but it’s still a deterrent.

Because I off-road I don’t use them on my 4runner… it’s more likely create a problem than to solve one.

I've them on my TRD wheels because kit came with it. I would be okay if there were no wheel locks. Who steals wheels these days anyway?

I’ve always used gorilla lugs for peace of mind. It’s only more of a deterrent like most locks, but fines some mental security.

I took mine off off and replaced with normal lugs. When I first got the truck I took it together new tires and couldn't find the key. I don't want to deal with that again. It's hard enough not losing the spline drive for the Rockwarrior wheels.

This... adding an alarm is probably a better option over wheel locks. Yes they could still steal your wheels but not without a lot of noise and drawing attention to themselves.

I’d add a glass break sensor and remote start while going down this route.

You know where you live better than anyone. You can usually go online to your local PD department or city's website and view a crime tracker map of your neighborhood. If vehicle thefts or vandalisms are common, then yes get one. Will the locks keep a determined thief from stealing them? No, like everyone said they will just have a key themselves and off they come. But if you put them on, will a smash & grab thief go after yours with locks, or your neighbors car that does not have them? I'll bet they will go for the easier score and leave yours alone. That's been my philosophy and so far I've yet to have any thefts or break-ins. I have had vehicles right next to mine vandalized on three separate occasions and I do believe it's because mine looked harder to steal than the other one.
