Arizona members post Turkey day run Nov 30th

[AZ4Running]

Getting a day trail run together for next Sunday Nov 30th. Either the easy run to 4 Peaks from the Bush Hwy or a more off road trail at Butcher Jone and head to the cover and up to the cattle watering hole for some rocky rough rodh fun. Early meet up with a mid day lunch so bring your Thanks Giving left overs and turkey sandwiches. Post up your vote for the location and rsvp to go. I hope we can get some people together on this. Pm me for more info and interest.

I would be in, but I leave Wednesday for a week of camping in west Texas. I will be keeping my eyes open for some sort of 'meet' next month though.

Ill need to check with my better half, but I might be able to make this. My vote would be to do something a bit more challenging than 4 Peaks but really ill be happy jus to get out with fellow Yota people.

Ok so more challenging it is, Butcher Jones back to the watering hole. Its about half way between Saguaro lake and 4 Peaks, has some nice hills to climb, sandy washes and rocky roads. But still pretty easy. I myself am still new to wheeling so I dont know of many good spots yet but this is a good moderate trail that anyone can do with a stock 4runner.
Meeting place will be Power rd and McDowell/202 in the Big5 parking lot, there is also gas stations and a Bashas for food, gas and drinks. Beer is cool with me for the drinkers just be safe and responsible.

Sounds good, I should be able to make it - what time?

I know the Butcher Jones area very well - I think I know the watering hole you're referring to. Do you want to start at BJ then work our way up to 4 Peaks, or vice-verse? I'll bring the 89 4Runner cuz there are some super fun spots out there to play around on.

Update on run. Meeting at Big 5 on Power rd and McDowell at 10:45 will be leaving at 11:00 for a day of running around the Butcher Jones trail area at Saguaro Lake maybe a run from there to 4 Peaks. Bring lunch and plenty of drinks and water with you. We will be stopping somewhere for lunch thinking about 1:00 then back in the trail.
If anyone has a compressor or air tank for airing back up after the trail that wolkd be great.
So far lofreqjeff is coming and bringing some of his friends and cf_coder is going.

Do we have an solid truck count? Right now, I've only invited 1 friend, but I have a few others who would be interested in coming, but I don't want to have too many trucks with us.

Since you checked out that map I sent, do you know which trails you'd like to do? I know a trail that goes along the lake from 1830 to 1844 that we can visit each of the coves then take 1844/1345 or 1829 which is the one that goes along the fence line, up to 13, to 1343 then up to the rest of the way to 4 Peaks.

Thanks guys I had a great time today. Lofreqjeff thanks you helped push me out of my comfort zone a little to do some of those hills. Good time with good friendly people we need to do it again sometime soon.

Great day out there in the Butcher Jones/Saguaro lake area! I have to agree that it was great having some other folks (Lofreqjeff and his friend Anthony) out there with better built rigs to help push myself and Neal a bit in determining where the pucker factor line in the sand is! :cheers: And now the obligatory pics of the run..
