I just moved here from Colorado... I'm looking to meet new people and hoping to get some insight on fun trails and camping locations! Anyone have anything going in this weekend, that would be willing to allow me to tag along??

You'll be missed, I think you and I just missed each other with a couple runs up here, but I passed you at least half a dozen times on the highway.

I really like the areas north of phx, may even decide to hit overland expo west in the spring. It's not that far...

One of the top 10 4x4 trails in the US is actually in Sedona. Look up Broken Arrow Trail. Soldier trail is there as well and the two make a nice day with time for lunch. Due to the popularity you can likely do these just by yourself.

The back way to crown king is another popular one with a bar/restaurant on the top that you can then take the main road back out to I-17. Note do not do Crown king if it has snowed and there may be ice. There are some not so nice slopes up there. Mid day vs evening you're probably fine. Montana mountain is a nice easy scenic one and then bulldog canyon (permit required) is scenic/easy as well.

I've been sick and not going out for a bit but I'll try to remember yas next time I go out.

I'm interested in tagging along as well. Just went to Broken Arrow this weekend then thru Oak Creek Canyon on our way to Flagstaff for some snow time. Good times!

Go west to Palm Springs! Actually west of Phoenix there are miles and miles of desert with nice camping and wheeling. Summer average temperature is like 112 and you'll get choking dust storms followed by torrential downpour so get ready for that fun

I haven't made my way down south to try any Phoenix trails yet but I ride in Sedona pretty often. Lots of great trails there. Just hit Broken Arrow on Saturday in fact.

Hah no kidding man, if I could I definitely would! The whole purpose of the wifey and I moving is to save money for a couple of years for a house since the cost of living is lower

AZ has plenty of off-roading not too far from Phoenix. Just go east on the 87 and once you pass forth McDowell Rd pretty much any exit!

Check out the Four Peaks trail - it starts on the 87 and goes all the way to the 188, is a very scenic trail and not difficult at all. I did it stock. Plan for 3-5 hours though... https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/v...l=33.727681515530485,-111.38373999999999&z=13

Lots to do

There are a lot of places to visit within a 3hrs radius from Phx. I did Page (somehow ended up in Kanab, UT), Jerome, Flagstaff, Williams, Tucson, Bisbee without counting the offroad trips...no wonder why I have 69,234miles on my 2014

My wife and myself are relocating to Phoenix at the end of the month as well. Would definitely like to meet up people from this group as well. I have a 5th gen and a newly acquired 3rd gen as well. PS. Would you recommend living in Gilbert or Downtown Phoenix?

I'm in Gilbert and love it. Never lived in Phoenix but Google "Gilbert best places to live". It consistently ranks as "one of the best places to live". The East valley is newer and growing so it depends on what you want. The valley is huge but we have a pretty good highway system so nothing is really too far.

what [MENTION=142687]mcox522[/MENTION] said: it really depends on what you're looking for. Gilbert is very family friendly and spread out compared to downtown. It would also depend on where you work too. The freeway system is nice but it does get congested at times. My recommendation would be to drive around and check out the houses etc..I am just north of the 202 SanTan.
