Asking for help with AC/Heater control issues ASAP

Long story short, or, at least that's the plan.

Model: 2001 t4r SR5

I dropped my AC/Heater controller while attempting to switch out the lights for LEDs. When I plugged it back in, neither of the buttons (A/C on/off or RECIRCULATE) were working (i.e. no light) and no matter what setting I put it on, I was only getting air (warm/hot air at that) through the dash vents. I went through the FSM tests for the controller and it failed.

I bought a used ac/heater control from a local parts dealer I found through www.car-part.com; plugged it in today, and nothing changed.

I will go through testing the new controller tomorrow, but I find it hard to believe that the controller is to blame (there goes $63 down the drain).

Anyone have any thoughts/experience with a similar issue? I'm headed to the beach next week and would love to have air conditioning!

Would that allow me to turn it on, but not control the air? I get lights, and can turn it on, just no *control* of it. Can't use defrost. Can't turn A/C on. Can't switch between recirculate/circulate.

I finally tested the replacement controller with DMM and 12V power and it failed as well. Parts recycler has another one on the way. I'll make sure I test that one before I plug it into the car just in case something on the vehicle side of the controller is to blame.

I'll update once it is resolved.

Can anyone tell me if the controller does anything besides make the appropriate connections? Would it be possible for me to jump the connections of the wiring harness to "control" the ac?

Three for three; AC controller

Got my second (used) replacement AC controller for a 2001 SR5 T4R today, tested functionality per the FSM before plugging it into the T4R, and, SAME failure.

Cliff's notes for those that don't want to read through the entire results:
ALL three controllers fail in almost exactly the same way
NONE of the controllers will turn defrost on

Any ideas/references??? Thanks in advance!!

Don't know how (or even if there's a way) to put a table into a post, but here are the results of the test (per the FSM) of all three controllers:

Step 1: Inspect Illumination (connect 12V+ to terminal 15 and 12V- to terminal 16)
