Some dealers charge restocking fees and don't take returns on "special order" parts that they had to bring in - and not just Toyota dealers, my local Chevy dealer was just as bad with parts pricing.

Our SOR paperwork states the same but it's just a cushion. I'm able to both return a part and waive whatever restocking fee would be applied at my discretion. Be nice to your parts guys.

Never realized you could ask dealers to price match. Canadian dealers are a huge ripoff here, some local dealers vary by as much ad 20% between each other here.

I'm guessing there's a minimum the dealer is willing to go vs online prices. Are dealers typically willing to even match special order parts?

It varies dealer to dealer, much like the list pricing of items. I don't offer discounts out of the blue but if you ask me if one is available (veterans, student, senior, whatever) then I'll do the max I can do, which at my dealership is 10% off of our matrix list.

Yes, when I did all my wheel bearings and ball joints, I asked them to price match, and they did to a certain extent. Some parts would be matched, some close enough. I just call and ask first. Then when I show up invite them my parts list with numbers (a shopping cart printout from Toyota of Dallas parts) and say such and such said y'all would price match another Toyota dealer. Usually works
