I have a 2000 4Runner and have a problem. The tailgate window started giving me problems lately so I took it apart to find that the window had separated from the regulator. The glass is OK, but my problem is the glass became separated from the rails that look to be glued onto the window (and then fit into a channel on each side of the regulator). Any ideas on what to buy to fix that? The rails themselves seem OK, but I either need to get new ones (what part to buy?) or figure out how to glue them back on like they were before. Any ideas? I'm pretty sure those parts are available separately, not sure how they're attached to the glass though. You'll need to know if you have A or B style when you order (two different configurations)
If the parts are still serviceable perhaps Gorilla glue is worth a try? Worth a try before you spend money on new parts.
Thanks for the reply. How do I tell if it is A or B style? I don't even know what the part is called to make the order. Or how to attach. It looks to me like the rail that is attached to the glass has some rubber like material that is either the adhesive itself or the rubber is attached to the rails and then the rubber itself gets glued to the glass. I can't tell. I don't think gluing the glass to the rails is the best approach -- I think the rubbery substance helps with the vibration and jarring that the glass would experience against the rails; without that I am pretty sure it would vibrate off the rails with just the gorilla glue.
Are you talking part 69907E? or the part that attaches between that and the rails? If it's the part that attaches to the glass that's where you need to choose between A and B style.:

I don't think they are glued on.
I'm pretty sure it's just "pressure fit".

(that walkthrough is for a second gen 1990 4runner, but when I had my liftgate apart and my driver's side bracket needed some TLC, I don't remember thinking they were glued on. I also have the "type B" glass holder rail brackets).

Ahh, so that's it then -- the new brackets must come with the rubber. It sure looks glued on to me though. With the bracket off there is a lot of hard residue on and around where the rubber from the rail should contact the glass. Maybe I am not remembering correctly -- I'll have to go back and look at it gain.

I just had my back hatch apart, and I remember it looked like 3M Windo-Weld Round Ribbon Sealer to me. I did not mess with it. black sticky gunky stuff.
