Hey guys - I know there's a few of us here from Alberta, and I just wanted to give everyone the heads up on the grand opening of The Gear Shop in Calgary on June 7th at 6:30 PM. They are a distributor up here for the Baja Rack gear, BudBuilt, Shrockworks, and a bunch of others. I bought my Baja Rack from Nathan and was happy with the pricing and service. They also have a rep from TJM Offroad up from California as well. tjmusa.com

I'll be down there in my 'Runner, and was thinking it would be a good excuse for an impromptu meet with fellow forum members so we can scope out each others rigs and pat each other on the back.

Also, I will be down there with my buddy that built the grill for my truck - he has the dimensions programmed in his CNC mill for a 5th-gen grill, and can custom build you one with any pattern that you can dream up.

Anyone else plan on attending??

The Show and Shine from 10am -1pm is part of the Charlesglen Toyota dealership event this Saturday unless I'm mistaken.

While I'll be out of town for that, fortunately I will be back in town for the Grand Opening and will see you there!
 
I'm stuck in Edmonton this weekend but will have to make the trip down soon.

Can anyone in Edmonton suggest a good place to get Bilsteins installed? I find the ride in my SR5 to a bit softer than I would like.
 
Hah, sorry I misread and thought you were posting about the Charlesglen thing this Saturday. I'll be at the Gear Shop grand opening as well though.

Kevin (the parts manager at Sherwood Park Toyota) is the local go to guy here in Edmonton for GearShop stuff.

the GearShop isn't a bad place to at least talk to for a quote, but honestly I've always managed to find a better price with a little leg work.

And the Bilstein install is super straight forward especially on the SR5. If you're comfortable turning wrenches, read through the tutorials on here and toyota120.com and give it a go yourself.

I'll see Charlesglen Toyota a bit embarrassed if your truck still has Heninger sticker on the back:laugh:
 
I didn't buy my truck at Heninger or Charlesglen, but I've had it serviced at both. I don't have any dealer stickers on the truck thanks to some Goo Gone.

For my purposes at least, staying open till 7:30pm is just as good as being open weekends(ie: being open when I'm not at work). Better actually, since I usually like to spend my weekends actually using the items I purchase at the Gear Shop. Of course not being open weekends likely means missed business opportunity, but it is what it is for now and I'm sure once the business becomes more established and more staff added, we will see those weekend hours.

But on topic, I'm really looking forward to this event. See you all there hopefully!
 
It's going to be an awesome time! Thank you for posting the event and it's going be a great time with Mission Snow and Skate, TJM USA, All-Pro USA, Fine Vehicles (Land Rover) and more!

Working weekends is a bummer eh! Running a few companies is a grant that weekends and holidays are non existent ;) I believe the person in question works weekends, holidays, evenings, and early mornings which enables people to have access to amazing 4WD upgrades and outdoor gear... and at times for people to price check.

From what I understand, once there's another employee come June, weekends will become an option as well.
