Attic using storage net

I just used the self tapping screws and went directly into the plastic. Granted my 4runner is a trail rig and it's got holes in all sorts of different panels already, most people probably won't go this route. heh.

I know OP said he used 36" bungees for the diagonals. What length bungees did you use for the 4 sides?

I left the rear grab handles in place for front mounts, hooked bungees onto them. The rear mounts I removed the grocery bag hooks, reused the bolts with large flat washers and hooked the bungees onto the bolts behind the flat washers. I imagine D-rings could work using the grocery bag bolts. Can't remember if I tried to keep the grocery bag hooks and hook the bungees behind them.

I bought this https://www.amazon.com/Bungee-Cords-Assortment-Extra-Strong/dp/B013U23ICQ but at Home Depot. I think I used 18" from side to side, 24" from front to rear, and 32" diagonally. Made it nice and tight.

EDIT: I finally looked at that 9 Moon kit the OP used, those mount hooks would have worked great for me using the grocerybag hook bolts, I think maybe the OP had to drill them out a bit.

I used the OEM bolts, rather than the ones that came with the storage net. For the rear door handle mounts, I used my knife to notch two of the black plastic pieces. Take a look at the first two or three pics in my original post.

The OEM bolts fit into the black plastic pieces, I didn't drill them out.

Can you share any pics? I don't mind a few holes in the trim, provided someone was already the guinea pig to show there's nothing important directly behind these spots

I'll get some pics later. I drilled real close to the air bag, but I think that's the only important thing. I've actually got it stretched and connected at 3 points.

These look pretty interesting but how about some pics of them loaded with whatever you carry up there.

I would definitely say you need the bungie cords or something through the netting to firm it up otherwise it dips down pretty good. I tried a couple pillows and it was crazy low.

Thanks for the pics! I got some M6 machine screws and nylock nuts from Home Depot this morning, drilled holes just through the plastic trim, and attached the D-Rings to the trim. It holds real solid. Here's a few pics of it loaded up with jackets, coats, hats and gloves for 3 people. Really helps to not have all that laying on top of everything else in the cargo area. This is the Blue Ridge Overland attic for Land Cruisers, btw.

Turns out the 9 Moon anchors that bolt in, aren't that strong. One of mine busted with only one additional bungee connected to it.

Any suggestions on a replacement?

Do you guys have to bolt these in? I wanted to hook them to the upper passenger grab handles and the upper hooks in the trunk and reinforce 'em with bungee cords like this one guy did that I saw. I'm squeamish about drilling holes in my car.

Also please don't put anything too solid in this thing or one hard stop and you'll have it embedded in the back of your skull
