You can't go wrong with Alpine in general. IMO, look into the PDX V9 More power, smaller, cleaner. I've run PDX amps in quite a few builds. They're under rated beasts.

Let me know what you do. I have a 2017 TRD Pro in cement as well and want a louder sound I drive with the windows down and it is hard to hear the music.

Made my sub box per JL Audio's specs for my 12TW3-D4 Subwoofer. I added some bracing in all the corners. Debating on wrapping it in carpet or vinyl that'll match the interior upholstery. I'm installing it where the third row passenger's feet would normally go with the seat up. Since I have a car seat there, it'll take up no additional cargo space and be out of sight. I am so close on completing my install!

I am on the fence. I am going to replace all the stock speakers with new JL speakers along with a Sub and Amp. However I am told different things from various installers in town. Some say replacing the speakers without a new head unit or at least a digital processor is a complete waste of money. I will not notice a improvement and I also risk the stock radio causing problems with the amp/sub.

So then I feel like maybe I should replace the stock radio as well, but do not like the idea of messing with issues regarding the dash kit not matching and possibly losing features on my steering wheel / back up camera etc.

Ideally, if I could feel somewhat at ease about just replacing the speakers with upgrades and add an amp / sub then that is what I want. However, if I don't use a digital tuner or a new head unit is this futile?

I have a 2017 TRD Pro - Cement.

Easy fix. I added a Kicker Hideaway Sub under my driver seat and it's night/day a better sound system now with the bass fill it provides paired with the OEM speakers.

Reason being? Considered this but looked like there was a lot of tuning you had to do through a computer that I didnt want to pay someone to do. Recurve seemed pretty simple. Plus much cheaper

It’s just a better piece of equipment. To be honest it’s very simple to setup! All you do is put the volume up to I think 47 is what I set it at and push a button. It does the rest itself.

Sub fits perfect in the location between the 2nd and 3rd row, where the passenger's feet would normally go. Tight squeeze but it fits like a glove and to the exact specs of JL. Sub is a JL Audio 12TW3 dual voice coil running at 2ohms. Sub box is approximately .9 cubic foot and sealed. Just need to find the time to tune it with the rest of the system.

How much are you asking? Ive had two HD amps before. Both 750/1. One went into protect mode. I hear the slash amps are built like tanks. I think id feel better having two amps vs one 5 channel

You'll be fine just gain and tune properly. You always want more power than you need that way you're not maxing your amps out. Here's my work in progress.

SQ build with a single JL 10TW3 fiberglassed into the passenger quarter panel. All doors are Hertz High Energy speakers. 3 way component up front. One amp per pair of speakers. So much sound deadening the tailgate didn't stay up anymore. Had to install the GOBI struts to support the added weight of the door. Every driver including tweeters has 12 gauge OFC wire soldered to it. 0 gauge OFC power cable, Stinger 8000 RCA cables.

Been a while since this thread was posted on, so I thought I'd provide an update after driving in to work and really appreciating the upgrade.

I did the JL C2s all around, 6.5 components up front and 6.5 coax in all 4 rear locations.

I have to say, it sounds pretty darn good. Only negative is the HU is seeing much lower impedance than factory, so it takes a little more turning on the volume knob to get the volume up, but the bass is full, mids clear, and the highs are crisp.

I'm still going to add an amp and sub at some point, but this will tide me over nicely.

Also, before the upgrade, I could not tell the difference between XM radio and streaming Amazon Prime music, or a CD. After, wow, XM sounds horrible.
