The 4runner will only brake for you when you have adaptive cruise (present in 2020 onward models as stated above). Adaptive cruise only works above 32mph. When you’re approaching something so fast the truck, it’ll beep at you loudly and tell you to “Brake!” but it won’t hit the brakes for you in that situation.

He's referring to BA (brake assist). During emergency braking for grannies with no muscle. Another skid ECU function.. detects emergencies and assists in braking. Cruise control is also controlled by skid ECU so you have that part right
OP said “auto emergency braking” which is a common industry term to refer to Pre-Collision System in Toyota’s case. Brake Assist, while used in conjunction with PCS, is an entirely different feature.

Toyota TSS has PCA or Pre Collision Alert, but I have yet to see it have AEB mentioned as a feature.
If you roll up to an intersection behind a stopped car, and simply neglect to even touch the brake, it will NOT brake for you.
An alert will display that SAYS “Brake!”, and radar cruise may slow you down to zero; but that’s not the question being asked.
It does NOT have AEB.

I’m not sure which model year it started, but a 2022 model will automatically brake.
From the 2022 owners manual:
Pre-collision braking
When the system determines that the possibility of a frontal collision is high, the system warns the driver. If the system determines that the possibility of a frontal collision is extremely high, the brakes are automatically applied to help avoid the collision or reduce the collision speed.

If you are talking about brake assist - it was in T4R in 2010 already. It's not fully auto though, you have to press brake sharp and fast and system will press if all the way scaring the hell out of you.

I have a 2020 model with TSS. It definitely does not come to full stop automatically.
Toyota doesn't advertise and nobody here is saying it will come to a complete stop. It applies the brakes to reduce the speed at impact.
I think it gets you to about 15mph. After that, it cuts off.
No one said it did. Read your manual to fully understand how your vehicle’s systems work.
At slower speeds PCS can come to a complete stop, but even the best systems can only manage it usually below 15-25 mph in a panic brake situation. Less likely to come to a complete stop on a heavier vehicle like the 4Runner which is why it isn’t advertised, but it can help reduce the speed.
Where you’re thinking it cuts off is with DRCC. If you’re using cruise and traffic slows to a stop, DRCC only takes it down to a certain point where the driver then has to intervene. Some models like the Prius or higher trim Camrys have full-speed DRCC that can slow you to a complete stop.
