Who has the most experience having tinkered with the automatic shifter handle? Is something similar to this even possible?

If you could cut the soft material off the shifter, then 3d print something in two pieces that could glue right onto the shifter, that might be possible...but I don't know enough about the guts of the shifter, or 3d printing.
Any thoughts?
