I am going to try this tonight,myorginal battery on my '04 Limted was replaced as well as tune up and washed the vehicle off today and now wipers ,fluid will not work. Thanks.

I did the 12V constant power mod which involved disconnecting the battery. Driving down the road today I tried to use the rear wiper and it wouldn't work. I tried using the remote to roll down the rear window - nada. The sunroof wouldn't auto close. I was at a loss. I thought i'd have to give up my 12V mod until I found this post. Excellent info!

Anyone know if it's possible to change just the driverside window to non-auto? It drives my wife nuts on her 4Runner. She can't seem to grasp the fact that it is a 2-stage button.

Just saw this post, one option would be to disconnect the battery and not recalibrate the driver's door. Not sure how long that would hold up though, it's not terribly hard to accidentally calibrate the window.

Another would be to swap window regulators with me since mine messed up and the auto function won't work anymore. But that would mean both of us being without a driver's window for a couple weeks.

Lol, honestly I just told her to figure it out! I think I'll try disconnecting the battery and resetting all the windows and then just leaving that one alone.

I'm having a similar problem with my 4runner but following the steps doesn't seem to fix it. My AUTO light blinks constantly when driving, but never blinks when I follow the reset instructions. After the first reset attempt, I thought it was the LED, replaced the LED, didn't help (I know the LED wouldn't explain the auto function not working but I didn't think about it at the time and only noticed the blinking light). Bought a whole new switch assembly, connected it today, same thing. Tried following the reset after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, the reset worked successfully for the sunroof and rear window, but I can't seem do anything with the drivers window. Any ideas what it could be? I tried the reset instructions posted here about 10 times before I gave up and posted this

Hi guys, I am new here and I am having exactly same problem after I've blown the 140 ALT fuse along with 3 other ones, by wrong battery hook-up.....on my 05 SR5 v6 2wd 134k.
After replacing ALL blown fuses and reconecting the battery this time the right way, my driver side power window would NOT move at all. After I changed the battery and started the car, I opened the window but it would not come up. Now it is all he way down. The AUTO light is blinking. I followed the instructions on how to reset/recalibrate but I get no response from the window. The switch makes a clicking noise when pushed but no reaction from motor...
This is very frustrating given the fact hat I live in Las Vegas and it will soon be 115F outside temperature ..... and with the window open......

It could be the window regulator, we tracked that down to be the problem with mine.

It's indicated by the auto light blinking for a second, then 2-3, then 1, then 2-3... kinda like .-.-.-.

I went to the toyota dealer to give me a diagnostic on the problem....
They said that the master power window switch needs to be replaced and the estimate cost is $545 PLUS labor !!!!!
I started laughing hystericaly and after I stopped I told tbem to bring me the car.....cause I am not crazy to pay about $700 for something like this.
Are they insane or am I going crazy???
Are there people paying this much for that???

That seems a little high. I still think it's the regulator.

I replaced my master window switch (for $40) and it didn't help.

Thanks for your help. The toyota dealer told me it was the power window switch so....I ended up going to a local junk yard and I picked up a used (of course) master power window switch for $54. I replaced the old one with the one From the yard and now it works. I also had to reset it because it was acting weird....like rolling only half way up or not not closing or opening at all for a small period of time..... Anyways, I followed the instructions mentioned above with no success. I have an 2005 T4R SR5 V6 2WD so I found on youtube a video on how to reset on later models toyota the master power window switch. Now it works. I did the following to reset it:

1- turn your key to Accesories (ACC)
2- roll window ALL WAY down by holding the button all the way down and keep holding it down for 3 more seconds after it stops.
3- roll window ALL WAY up by holding the button all the way up and keep holding it up for 3 more seconds after it stops.

After completing the 3 steps your power window should operate properly.

In the end I saved around $600 by buying a used one from he junk yard and by replacing it on my own. It only took around 15-20min to do so.

LOL, I feel like a dummy! My rear wiper was not working on the ride home last night. I read this thread, went back in the car and sure enough the back window was not rolled all the way up. Works fine now.

Thanks toto this solved my problem after changing out the battery on my 2005 T4R today.
Whew I was worried I had screwed up by shorting a cable or something.

I had the steering shaft replaced on my 4Runner by an independent shop. When I stopped at the mail box on the way home, the auto window down did not work. When I drove it to work on Tuesday, the rear defroster and the auto up down on the rear window also would not work. I'm think what fuse would contol that combination? I did a search and found this thread and now everything works fine.

I actually found it through a Google search as opposed to a search on this site.

Yes, you need to reset the one-touch features on the power windows and moonroof when you disconnect the battery. The windows use less power to close these days (so they're less likely to crush hands or fingers), so they need to "remember" where the closed position is.

To reset the driver's side power window auto-close:
1. Push down and hold the driver’s door power window switch to completely open the window.
2. Pull and hold up the driver’s door power window switch until the window closes. Continue holding the switch for approximately one second until the switch changes from blinking to a constant illumination.
3. Check for proper operation of the “one–touch open/close” by pushing the switch briefly to the “DOWN” and “UP” positions.

To reset the moonroof one-touch operation:
With ignition switch in the “ON” position, do the following:
1. Push and hold the “TILT UP” side of the switch until the moon roof tilts all the way up and then tilts down slightly (approximately 10 mm [0.39 in.] at the rear).
2. Check for proper operation of the “one–touch slide open/close” and “one–touch tilt up/down” functions by pushing the switch briefly to the “SLIDE OPEN” and
“TILT UP” positions.

To reset the rear window operation:
1. Turn ignition switch to the “ON” position.
2. Push the back door power window switch to the “DOWN” side to open the window.
3. Push and hold the back door power window switch to the “UP” side until the window closes. Continue holding it for approximately 1 second.
4. Check for proper operation of the “one-touch open/close” functions by pushing the switch briefly to the “DOWN” and “UP” position.

The compass will also need to be reset if you disconnect the battery. Instructions for that are in the Owners Manual. You need to look at a map of the country to determine which zone you're in, and the instuructions are slightly different for 2003-2006 vs. 2007-2009.

I took my 4R to the mechanic shop. They waste 2hrs trying and checking everything.
When i came back it worked but they had no explanation of what caused the problem and what resolved it. They said maybe something was frozen or just a bad connection.

It cost me about 180$. Problem solved but i feared it will be back sometime.

That's exactly what happened about a month later. I disconnected the battery again and the problem was back.
I then realized it has something to do with the battery disconnection... But didn't know what.
I was about to take the 4R to a good shop specialized in electric problems. I was thinking about all the $$$ going out of my pockets again and i took a chance... What about a little Google search on that problem?

That's what i did and i just found this post and saying to myself "I couldn't be just that?". I ran to my 4R and followed the rear window reset instructions and guess what?

PROBLEM SOLVED! It only took 30 secs! You made my day!

You just saved me some $$$. I can't believe professionnals didn't find that, and that i paid 180$ for nothing...

This forum will be a must from now on...

Sunroof and drivers window does it too. Also, whenever I unplug my battery for a few hours to reset everything it usually stalls on the first crank and then fires up and runs fine.
