Automatic Car Washes & Lifted T4R's

Just wanting to get a verdict on automatic car washes and those with lifted 4Runners?

Also, how about hearing from those of you with roof racks such as Gobi, Rocky Road Outfitters, Thule, Yakima, etc especially with LED lights or other accessories on the racks (front and rear).

I have a Trail Edition with 3" Toyotec lift and have been through several auto car washes with no problem especially after I downsized to a much shorter radio antenna. Now I am looking next at purchasing a rack and would like LED fog or driving lights as well as backup lights on the rack itself, possibly other accessories. I realize I should not be auto washing and should do by hand the right way but so many times I want the rig to look good and take the easy way out in a bind.

Would appreciate any and all replies.

I've got a full length BajaRack Utility rack and I haven't had any issues aside from some leaking on the passenger B-pillar (which I fixed with some silicone).

I've got the toytec and gobi even with a 4 ft firestik whip antenna, everything works on a touchless car wash.

I was just watching videos on rigidindusties web site yesterday about their e-series light, they completely submerged them for over an hour shot them with a 9mm, and a 12 ga. and the things were still working they also claimed to have drug them behind the vehicle , ran over them, and hit them with a golf club. Those are what I plan on running and would be surprised if the car wash took them out.

Car Wash

I've never use automatic car wash on my T4R since April 2011 mainly because of OEM radio antenna and Yakima Mega-Warrior roof rack.

Good to know that there's no issue with automatic car wash. I should try it one day.

Stock height, but run it through a touch car wash (ie with brushes and the likes) with a Yakima Megawarrior - I have a metra shorty antenna but I always pull it before I go through just to be on the safe side - and I've never had a problem. I live in NE so it's always nice to find one with an undercarriage wash in the winter.

From my research on Gobi, Baja, and Rigid lights, I'm pretty sure it would turn your T4R into a convertible before it would hurt any of those products.

2010 TE, Toytec Ultimate, 285's, Yakima rail grab rack with ski rack on top -- a scosh over 7' tall at the highest point and no issues with the 7'2" clearance Chevron touchless autowash I frequent...

Goes without saying that I'd have a potential problem in a < 7'0" clearance wash tho...

Side note - if you have Yak or Thule crossbars and do your oil changes at a dealer (remember 2 yrs included with purchase) that gives you a free car wash before they return the vehicle, make sure they use a touchless one... first time I got my truck back after installing the Yak rack my crossbars were out of position after being knocked around by the brushes (guess I didn't have things tight enough on the factory rails). Now I just pass on the free wash...

No issues. Gone through touchless as well as non-touchless. I did go through a touchless one with my CB antenna connected. Wasn't worried about the truck; thought I was going to break the damn carwash!

Haven't had any issues though I use the single bay touch less not the drive through.

There is also a hand wash car wash just down the street from my home, it's a bit expensive but they do a super job, wash, spot free rinse, dry, tire shine, wheel cleaner and Rainx for $20 plus the girl that works there is a cutie!
