aux fuse block questions

Finally getting around to working on this project. Decided to wait til it was 100 degrees out, builds character I am told.

I have a Blue Sea 5026.

I intend to mount it under the right side back seat, where the jack used to be stored.

The run from the battery is approx 15'. The fuse block is max 100 amps.

So, treat it as a device, run 4 AWG from battery to fuse block. Use a battery terminal fuse or a breaker very close to battery.

Does this seem correct as far as wire size?

These are just a couple graphs. 4ga should be fine. Where are you running the ground? The total length of the circuit is what matters.

4 should be plenty. It's pretty unlikely you'll use the full 100Amps, and even if you do the 4 gauge will handle it, you'll just lose a few tenths of a volt.

I have read that I can either ground to the body/frame or run a wire back to the battery ground. I will likely run back to the battery unless someone posts that it is fine running to the frame.

For relays, are they OK to go in the space close to the fuse block?

If you run it back to the battery then your total length is closer to 30 feet so you would be better off running 2ga if you plan on ever utilizing the full 100amps. Might be better grounding it closer.

Yes you can have relay mounted close to the fuse block.

Go straight to the frame for your ground. That keeps it as short as possible and gives you the best electrical path back to the battery. If you can find a good sized bolt that's already there, just clean the paint off around it and use that. An M6 or M8 bolt or stud would be ideal.
