AVG. MPG as Calculated by onboard computer

How many miles is used by the computer when the avg. mpg. is calculated?
Is it the last 100 miles traveled?

It's distance since last reset, even if that distance is a few feet.

Ok, thanks for the reply JB. I just did a cleaning of the MAF sensor and reset the ECU, so I was wondering when I would start getting a normal reading of my avg. mpg.

I don't even look at mine anymore. It's totally WORTHLESS. Not even close to my calculated mileage.

What did you use to clean the maf and how much did you use?

just use some electronics cleaner or maf spray, both of which can be picked up at your local auto parts store. It's just a quickly evarporated pressureized spray that blasts the debris off the sensing elements and evaporates quickly so that it can be used quickly without worrying about shorting a circuit.

You cant use too much...it'll just dry. You'll just waste product. Be sure not to touch the sensors with the red plastic straw. Some of them are mighty delicate.

It can work well as a relative indicator.

With 32" tires, mine falls consistently in a range of optimism from .2 to .8. An assumption can be made at any given time, with good accuracy, that it's reading .5 high.

Mines anywhere from 4-10 mpg OFF. I don't consider that to be even close to accurate. And it depends on what type of trip I take.
