Axim X50V or Palm Liferive

Ok guys I'm in the market for a PDA and I've narrowed it down to two choices:

1) Dell Axim X50V

or

2) Palm LifeDrive

Any thoughts? I've spent most of this week trying to decide but I haven't been able to reach a conclusion.

Personally, I don't like another Windows operating system. If they can't get it right on one platform (desktop/laptop), how can they export it correctly to the handheld?

That being said, I'm not sure I'm impressed enough with the LifeDrive to buy one. I need to replace my i705, but was hoping for something better than the T5. Not sure the LifeDrive is it, though.

The Dell X50V (friend has one) has a VGA (480x640) screen which makes a big difference (compared to my old Axim X5). There is less scrolling around when viewing a website with the VGA screen.

The LifeDrive has a 320x480 TFT screen (lower resolution but can be viewed in direct sunlight). Then you have the LifeDrive's 4Gb hardrive. I guess it would also depend on what you're planning on doing on your PDA.

I've had Palm based PDAs for a long time and when mine died of old age, I figured I would try a windows based one (HP rx3715). I did not like the windows based system as much. It is more complicated and harder to navigate around...The cheap POS broke (the LCD screen cracked) and I went back to Palm based OS (Tungsten E). It is solidly built and I realize how much I like the palm based OS for it's simplicity and the abundance of freeware....I will not buy another windows based unit.

I am in the medical field and use programs like Epocrates and 5min emergency med consult, as well as many other small calculator programs, like MedMath, preg wheel, etc. The nice thing about Palm based OS is that many of these small programs are freeware whereas the windows based ones all seem to be $20!

Don't ever buy a HP IPAQ. It is cheaply built, and the LCD screen cracked with no apparent trauma to the unit. I do not know how well built the Dell is, but if it is plastic and has ANY flex to it, expect your screen to crack easily. I would definetly get an extended warranty that covers the screen.....
