It was a relaxing trip. We decided next time we will stay 2 nights or more. The camping was sort of a field test of how I have all the gear packed, what works and didnt work etc. We know we want cots and the OzTent floor saver. My wife wants the zip on sides. All I want is a rear bumper with swing outs for the Jerry cans :-/

Also practicing filming. Obviously Im behind the curb. My most advanced set of gear is my Iphone 8 that I didnt even realize could record at 4k 60fps. Editing is done on a mid 2007 Imac I got for free that I repaired and upgraded.

Well, Had to have my rotors turned. Apparently the right side was sticking and overheating the rotor. I tried to warranty the part but apparently Vatozone turns them first. Man I need to do the TBU when funds are available. Anyways got some caliper lube, cleaned all the moving parts and re lubed. Sanded the pads lightly and re installed. No more annoying surging.....for now.

If things got according to plan I should have this by August.

Awesome thread! My mother just gave me her 02 sr5 sport 4runner with only 89k miles. Garage kept. My first upgrade I want to do is the tundra trd struts and the lc coils. I can get the struts locally used for $85 a piece. The lc I'll probably have to buy new aftermarket. None used local to be found.

I'm a dad of 4 with a stay at home wife so I'm also a shoestring budget kind of guy. I know you didn't like the lc coils and Monroe shocks. Do you think it's the best bang for the buck? I'd probably go with a better shock.

It looks like you had a good ammount of rake from that setup. How much lift did you experience?

The monroe/LC combo is the best bang for the buck, however once you start adding weight it starts sucking real quick. I’m a champion of budget builds and the folks who take the time to study them and tweak them, making them better without throwing thousands at it. Not everybody is at the Icon/Shrockworks budget.

When you were building your platform, did you already have all of your supplies and layed them out in order to get an idea on the depth of the drawers, or did you just decide that a certain platform height is what you wanted and made everything fit inside of the drawers?

I'm at the point of being ready for mock up/material lists to build my platform.

Good question. Well, I origionally had the intent to have a 2 drawer and the bottom drawer would be stove/cutting board. After a lot of thought and cost analysis I decided that I would save that sort of build out for a newer Toyota/Lexus SUV build on the 2 year plan. So what I did is figured out how deep I wanted the drawer and measured out the height from that. I also took into consideration that my wife is short and needed to be able to gain access. I gathered up a lot of cardbaord slip sheets and actually built the main structure out of cardboard for a visual of how everything fit, did A LOT of trimming, then used the cardbaord as patterns for the wood. STUPID me I threw out the patterns after the build. Now someone wants me to build them a system like mine with double drawers.

Th landcruiser lift is the FRONT coils off of an FJ80 and the REAR shocks from an FJ80.

Made a little video of MY experienc of Overland Expo. NO there arent any rigs or annoying reviews of gadgets. Just my basecamp and an unexpected part failure that made things difficult.

So not 4Runner related but still cool AF. My kid sister just graduated from Cornell with a D+EA. She was on the race team and designed elements of the car and manufactured them. Pretty cool stuff. I gave her a list of parts i want made [emoji23]

Did a little maintenance. Replaced the master pro belts I put on after taking ownership with Gates and a new Gates idler pulley. Much quieter now! Dropped the oil and refilled. Filter is the XL Wix and really doesn’t need to be replaced every 5k. Learned this from the forums actually.

Ordered the Falkens. Discount of course matched/beat Wal Mart price so Winning! Ordered all the final crap to finish the dual battery system minus the battery. 1/0 gauge and all the fixings en route. I’ll make a vid and share some pics of the process.

Just a little more progress. Got this done so when the rest of the parts show up I can just focus on wiring. The tray was an extra steel shelf from my gun safe I never used. Repurposed, repainted and FREE.

So the LC spring and Monroe shock (specific to the LC?) are great for people who don't do heavy of roading? I don't carry much weight on a regular basis. I do some towing a few times a year, that's about it.

Did you get the official Toyota LC spring or aftermarket?

I put on new KYB shocks and MOOGs 99 tall springs, but the ride is pretty rough in my opinion. Especially in the rear.
