2009 4 runner - back hatch windshield wiper, defrost, locks, and window up and down not working - when i re initialize the back window all works again. when i turn off truck, all stops working. In repair shop at toyota, 5 hours of labor later and still not working, all connections checked, wiring tested, as per toyota it may be the "brain" for "accessories" located under steering wheel, (replacement part $800 plus 5 hours labor) May be a short in wiring from back of truck to front.
They can not give me any idea of what the issue is and what cost. Options given to me 1) replace part 2) check each individual wire (15) from back to front 3) sell vehicle. In short it is looking to cost me an additional $2000 and they still can no guarantee it will be fixed. Has anyone got some ideas of the problem - related to security system? faulty safety mechanism?
