Back Hatch

Does any one have an issue with their back hatch not opening? I have an 02 SR5 and my hatch won't open and a body shops wants 50/hour to look into it not counting parts/labor. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix it? I don't have a ton of money but I need it to be fixed. Yes it is unlocked!

When you pull the rear hatch, does it have resistance or does it feel sort of floppy?

Rear hatch

My 07 4runner the rear hatch won't open or close all the way. It closes to right where the motor takes over. When you try and open it acts like its locked and won't open. Just moves in and out like 2 inches
