I am needing to move a hot water heater in my wife's 99 4Runner and for the live of me I cannot raise the back seat bottoms up. This first happened with the driver's side and now it is happening on both sides. It seems more than kid's goo or junk stuck but neither side will not budge at all. I remove the headrest on the seat back, and the seat backs will move as far as forward as possible but I cannot pull up on the seat bottom loop at all. It is as if they are locked. Any advice greatly appreciated. I need a hot shower!

My seats are difficult to lift sometimes. I had to really yank hard on the loop and make sure that I was pulling it forward and not up for it to release. The plastic tab just wasnt coming away from the metal loop. Try pushing a flat blade screwdriver down there to help 'free' the tab. If you're not sure what the tab thing looks like, then take out the two bolts that hold the seat in and you'll get to see how it works.

I have the same issue also. Not everytime, but maybe every 3rd or 4th time it just turns into a major PIA. Pulling forward instead of up is correct, but mine still has occasional issues. Very strange that it is not all the time, maybe the sealtbelt getting hung up on something in there is correct? I guess I am no help here except to let you know that you are not alone.

I broke the strap thing one time in a fit of frustration on the driver side back seat. Now it works perfect everytime...I think because it doesn't latch! Hopefully I don't eject someone into the back of my head some day.

yeah im just taking mine off completely. They get cold and I cant pull it for the life of me. I don't imagine that not having those will make much of a fuss. As "EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A SEATBELT ON ANYWAYS". Ill get some of my friends as test dummies.
