Had an accident today and Handsome Rob is not really looking as Handsome any more. Nobody got hurt, which was a merecal. Cause they ran a red and I was doing 35 and hit them in the passenger side doors. My ride came up of the ground it was such a hard lick. Here's the carnage.

Yeah little bit of a downer. More of a downer the horns shorted out after and were just on. So I had to yank wires out so I could die I dignified death, not screaming like a 3 year old girl. Oh yeah trailblazer was done.

Can you buy it back? Strip off the front clip, have a collision shop straighten the frame and replace the inner fenders and core support, then replace the rest with junkyard parts. You stand a good chance of bringing your 4Runner back to near-new status and having a little left over for offroady goodness.

I have that option but if I do that, they told me last year when I hit a deer and it totaled my monte out that if I did that there not paying for anything its just I get my wrecked car and have fun. But if they don't total the runner out I will be fixing it and doing it myself so I can try and get a lift or some sexy shrockwork bumper stuffs.

The problem with rebuilding it is that it then has a salvage title, meaning your insurance will (most likely at least it is here in CT) be higher, and the 4run forever devalued. I would still buy it back though, then buy another one just for a decent VIN#, then swap over all that's better...Its a project, but if you have the place to do it, you should make out really well!

Yeah with all of the parting out rigs on the classifieds here that would be great but I don't have a garage or even a parking spot in my apt. building. plus college student so pretty much save little bits here and there for mods and that's about it.

No way would I ever mess around with a bent frame. That stuff never seems to get right... The time and effort you'd spend, you'd be better off taking the insurance money and getting something newer/better, not to mention you'd have a salvage title if you decided to rebuild. Not worth it.

Yeah that is really the only reason I wont buy it back from insurance is a salvage. Plus I have been finding some okay 4th gen in Denver and some white 3rd gens that are pretty sexy.

Sucks man, as much as we like are runners it's sad to see one get all busted up. But, unless it's going to be an off-road only I wouldn't mess around with fixing it, simply because you want it to protect you just the same if you get in another accident and I don't put faith in any structural rebuild, just not worth it.

a) there's nothing scary about a salvage title, assuming you intend to keep the truck. Resale value is for vehicle-hopping scaredy-cats.

b) many times you can get the insurance company to sell you the vehicle before the titled gets branded, meaning it wouldn't have a salvage title anyway.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide to do. But Handsome Rob doesn't have to go to the scrapper, and you don't need to be intimidated by the thought of the truck having a salvage title. Ask your insurance company about the possibility of buying the truck back and see what they say before you make up your mind.

They're not hard to find around these parts and prices are much more reasonable that CO or other places. There's folks around here that'll help ya out, too. Let me know if ya need anything. I do still have some misc. parts laying around if you do decide to keep it.

Haha yeah pretty much. This is the second car in as many years that I not at fault total loss in Lincoln. Thanks mate. Not any mods really I had just got to were I could start saving for a tundra lift. I know everyone keeps saying buy it back but you have to have time to rebuild and 16 credits a quarter and my clinicals coming up there's no time for such shenanigans. Appreciate it man. I have been looking around Lincoln, Omaha, and KC area found a few okay ones but ahh.

yup. My little beater saturn got totalled in a snow storm (all cosmetic damage but the car was worth next to nothing anyways.) bought it back from the insurance company and fixed it with fleabay parts. Sold it a year later with a clear title.
