Badlands bumpers

So have you decided on what paint you are going to use? I was thinking about paying his guy he uses for powder coating.

I understood it to be one of the most durable coverings you can get for a part am I incorrect? Or are you simply saying that its nice to be able to do touch up?
 
Exactly. Powder is very durable, but still not durable enough that it won't scratch and chip when you wheel. If you do a good rattlecan job, it'll resist rust almost as well as powdercoat for a fraction of the price, and you can touch it up when it gets scratched. It's hard to throw spraypaint over powdercoat and have it look nice.

I got mine in bare metal, mostly because I planned to add an additional mount in the center, and will be welding on it.

a buddy just opened a PC shop, so I may send it to him once im done with all the bracing/welding.


altho, I noticed my bumper isn't square. if I set it on the floor, it rocks. quite a bit. 3/4" or so. not sure how this will be once its mounted. I think i'll call jeff and talk to him about it. maybe the jig got warped or something.

Yeah I figured that is what you meant. Maybe I will just go with Hammer paint from Walmart instead.

I'm working on it, they just finished up my rear bumper and sliders as well.

I just got off the phone with jeff.

I think all is well. he said sometimes that's happens. maybe the D-ring mount sticks out a tiny bit further, or one of the lower mounts sticks out a bit.

he said that the mount, and tubing are put in place with a jig, everything else is fitted by hand, and sometimes the placement cant be a tiny bit off. once mounted everything should be square and true.

he said to check it, test fit it, and if it is in fact twisted, or otherwise not square to let him know, and he would build me another one.



it will be a while, ive been busy with other things, and don't have the time to tear it down for a test fit.
and now dirt bike season is starting...so it may be a while.

none. its still sitting on the shop floor.

I picked up a couple dirt bikes for the kids, have been busy with that.
im still remodeling my basement as well.. I have a lot going on.


I would like to get it mounted up tho, it would be nice to get that winch out of my living room. lol

Yeah mine is still in the garage. Sold the winch off to buy a lens I needed for a gig this week. I will get another, hopefully. But it's not really a priority. I still need to drill for lights. The rear and sliders are still bare metal.

I need motivation.

I also need to figure out why my tranny is whining so much.
 
I just about have mine done.

I added the brace and extra mounts to the frame, and the extra supports for the top plate. I got the first coat of paint on it today. I hope to be able to get the 2nd coat on this weekend, and hopefully get it mounted on Sunday.

it may be a few days before I get the winch mounted tho.
 
its done!

just the one pic for now, I did take a bunch of the process. showing the extra bracing, and mount. i'll try to get those up tomorrow.
