Badlands bumpers

im not sure about other years, or other winches, but I had to remove the grill to get the winch in place.

im using a rugged ridge 8500. its 6" wide. it was close, but wouldn't go with the grill in place.

also, its not impossible to mount after, but I think it would be easier to mount the roller fairlead BEFORE installing the winch.

oh yes, another thing I forgot mention.

my roller fairlead doesn't match up to the cutout in the front.
i'll drill new holes and adjust it up slightly. its only off by about 1/2"


I mentioned this to jeff, he said they cut the bumpers for use with hawse fairleads. that they prefer that style since they don't get as damaged when ramming things with the bumper lol.

he said that he would address that point on the website.

so just a heads up, to mention which style of fairlead you plan to run if you order one.

also, he really liked my added bracing for the top plate. it sounded like that may be a standard feature on future bumpers. I think this is a good idea, as it is very solid now, to match the rest of the bumper.

Looks great bro. My truck's motor took a shit (even though its a re-man with less than 20k) no compression on #3 and #4 cylinders. So I wont be able to get my bumper anytime soon. Glad to see you got yours all sorted though.

Bumpers and lights mocked up. Still need to reinforce front bumper mount. Should be set by the weekend. Lots of wiring to modify/install. I have two more led floods and a few other goodies. In the process of modifying my budbuilt front skid to work with the bumper. I haven't yet decided on a finish for the sliders.

Decided to save the Monstaliner for the truck body, hopefully will hit that project towards the end of summer.

I like the tow points in the front! The TG based bumpers are definitely lacking in that area.

I do too. They are SOLID.

I'm really happy that I went local, the mounting holes didn't quite line up. I'm hoping I can stop back in at the shop and have them elongated/widened a bit.

yes these bumpers are BEEFY. the D-ring mounts are solid. they are 1" thick, and welded on the back as well as the front and sides. unlike many, that are just welded TO the face of the bumper. these come in through the back, VERY STRONG.

all my mount holes lined up perfectly. some were very close to the bolt, but they didn't touch.

Well I've had a hard time getting a hold of Cody. Sent him pictures several days ago with no response. So I'm just going to elongate the holes myself. Jeff is a great guy, although after spending over 1k on their product I would hope that they would have been more accommodating. Still a good product...

I never dealt with cody. I called jeff, he always answered. I sent a couple emails as well, and got a prompt response.

but yes, just open the holes up a bit. when I got mine he told me that there may be a slight variance in the hole alignment, and that I might have to open them up some.

Ended up shooting Jeff an email about it with a very prompt response. Will be headed there to have the holes slotted a bit. Awesome.

Well 3 and a half months later after having to put a new motor into my truck I'm finally able to afford to get my bumper from Jeff. Putting in the order today. Going to ask him to do the extra supports that Nevada did with his. Putting a M8000 behind it. Should get the job done

good idea. its a simple brace, doesn't add much weight, but makes a significant difference in the strength of that top plate.

you wont be disappointed, its a very solid bumper.

Just noticed this thread. I got the back bumper from badlands last month and liked it so much I ordered the front a couple weeks ago. the 4runner is in a body shop having some rust fixed and getting a fresh coat of paint and the bumpers will be coated with bed liner and added after the paint job.

Hey man what did you end up doing about your turn signals and license plate?

my license plate is still sitting on the passenger dash. not sure if you can even see it from the front tho...
I still havent figured out what im doing with that, it seems to be working fine where its at for now.


for the signals, I plugged them into the corner lights. they use the same plug, so it was simple. also probably not legal, as they flash fast, and I don't think they are very bright.
its not a DD rig anymore, so I don't drive it very often. I looked into getting some different bulbs to fit those sockets, but haven't ordered anything yet.

the bumper comes with mounts for the stock signals, but one of mine was busted up when my buddies jeep slid into me...prompting this new bumper.

I could not be happier with the bumper. Cody spent 3 hours doing the install and it turned out great. He even welded up my exhaust that I mentioned had a leak. Great customer service. Took them a month to finally make my bumper but it was worth the wait!
