Baja/Gobi water leak

Anyone with a Gobi or Baja rack getting any water leak thru the bolt holes? I installed my Baja last week, followed the directions and filled the white plastic screw holes with silicone. I washed my truck tyesterday and noticed a little puddle in the drivers side tiedown area by the liftgate and some water drops on the rear side window and some water drops on the rear passenger side window. The headliner felt dry and no issue that I could find on the forward bolts. Need to figure this out before it finally starts raining. Thanks.

I didn't use any silicone at all when I installed my Baja and haven't noticed any water leaking into the cabin. We haven't gotten any rain since but I have washed it a couple of times and had snow melt off it. I am considering wrapping some teflon tape around the bolt threads...

I liberally applied silicone gasket when I installed my gobi rack and have had no issues to date. I think Jonesyyy might be experiencing the same problem, since his description sounds the same/similar. You may want to send a PM to him and see what he's found out.

I had to reseal with silicone around the white bolt holes in the same location you are experiencing the leak.

I am not certain, but it was my understanding from the Gobi install instructions that the silicone was to be applied outside the plastic tube, not inside where the threads are. I slathered mine up pretty good around the thread tubes and have had no issues. Let me know if you guys agree.

Haven't had any problems with my gobi. I'm in the NW so we get plenty of rain.

yes... it's around the outside. If you look at where the sealing compound was when you took you OEM rack off, it will be quite clear. it's to keep water from the rain channel making it's way around the white "tubes" and into the body.

Well to eliminate any possibility of it happeneing again I just siliconed the s&%t in, out and around the white tubes. I swear the Baja instructions said to fill the inside of the tubes but its very possible I read them wrong.
