So are you running 4.30 gears right now with the 35's? I see in your sig, 5.29 gears? I would have thought that 4.88's would be sufficient for 35's or am I totally incorrect?
Also, could you post some photos of the trimming you did front and rear to clearance the MTZ's? Thanks and the truck looks amazing!!

I have currently have the stock 4.10 gears. I did a lot of research on whether to go with 4.88's or 5.29's. From everything I read, I decided that 5.29's would be the best for 35's. However, I know that some guys run 4.88's and are happy with them.
For trimming I only trimmed the pinchweld area behind the front tires. Sorry I didn't take any pics, but there are several threads about it. Just search. Also Brian2sun just posted some pics of his trimming in his build thread.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. The new projectors and HID's are working out great. I haven't had any problems at all.

Haven't updated this in a while. Many of you already know that I am building a custom snorkel. The other thing that I did recently was to install an Odyssey battery.
It is model 34R-PC1500T-A. Expensive, but worth it, as eventually I plan on having a winch, and I'm also looking at a nice DC to AC inverter to install.
It fit well, except for being just a little shorter than the OEM battery. I made a quick spacer, and now it fits just right.
I got 10 years out of my original battery. I guess I can't complain about that.
No problems starting it now.

well i have to say you are one of the 4runner masters! not many guys build their own stuff like you man but ive been creeping around these forums for a while and i am definitely impressed with the work youve done! keep at it man, i enjoy reading!

I finally got a small project done that has been sitting in the garage for quite a while now. My headlights and corner lights are already black, so the tail lights were the final step to complete the blackout. I installed a set of black Altezza tail lights. I know the Altezza tail lights aren't real popular on this site, but I like them. However, I did customize them slightly.
The only thing that I wasn't too wild about on the Altezza was the light colored border around the perimeter of the lights. I don't know why they didn't make that part black also. Well, I did!
Here's how they look originally, with the weird border.
I decided to tape off the border and paint it black. Taped off:
After painting:
After taking the tape off: (looks MUCH better)
And finally installed on the truck:
Now all my lights are blacked out.

Been working on a small project lately. I bought a set of used tail light guards from another member. They were in pretty rough shape. First I spent a couple of days scraping off the old paint and grinding them smooth. Then I tried them on the truck.
Since I have the Altezza tail lights, I wanted to do something different with the guards. I didn't like how the smaller horizontal bars cross through the circular lights.
So I decided to rework the guards to follow the same lines as the lights. I started by makings some circular pieces that were the same diameter as the lights, and welding them together. For the backup light portion, I had to bend a piece of 1/4" rod to the correct diameter.
Once I had those built, I had to cut out portions of the horizontal bars so that the round pieces could be welded into place.
That's where I am in the process right now. Next I need to weld the circular pieces in place, and add a few more supports.
I think it will look sweet when its done. More to come.

Any particular reason you decided to go with Odyssey instead of the diehard platinum?

I believe that the Diehard doesn't come with the reversed terminals that our 4Runners need. I've heard that if you use the Diehard, you will need to lengthen the cables. I didn't want to mess with that.
