Baseline Maintenance Question

Hi Everyone,

I just got my 1995 4Runner V6 4x4, with 128k on the clock. I'm looking to baseline all the maintenance requirements next weekend, since I'm not sure what the old owner may or may not have done. Here's what I have, am I missing anything? I'm trying to use oem parts/oils where it makes the most sense.

Engine oil- Any brand 10w30 ok?
Transmission flush- Toyota brand oil I'm assuming?
Differential oil- Toyota 75w90 if that even exists?
Air filter- OEM
Spark plugs and wires-Denso/NGK
Fuel filter- OEM
Coolant flush- Toyota brand?


Am I leaving anything else out?

i like castrol for engine oil
go with Valvoline tranny fluid
Use castrol diff fluid too.
air filer doesnt matter brand
spark plugs NGK all the way
fuel filter doesnt matter brand
coolant is all the same i use prestone

rotate your tires
transfer case fluid should be done every 2 years
brake fluid should be flushed once a year
power steering should be done once every 2 years
also when the new fuel filter is installed run a can of seafoam in the gas tank, i do about 1 12oz can for 4 gallons of gas that concentration has worked miracles in the past for me.

O and dont forget to grease all your zerks!!!

Depends, do you have an auto or manual trans?

And for brands of fluids, use whatever you like, but stick with name brands.

I have an r150f behind 3.0. i just did all my driveline fluids. mobile 1 synthetic gl5 75-90 in fr/rr diffs, tcase. mobile 1 10-30 Dino in engine. Lucas synthetic gl4 75-90 in 5speed. tranny shifts so smooth now. next is grease zerks, flush remaining fluids.

where is the blinker fluid reservoir? neighbor said not to forget that.

Blinker fluid is right behind the "not so bright bar", next to the "fail" button! (Just incase you aren't kidding, think about it for a min. and please don't touch the blinker fluid! It'll eat your brain!)

The kid at autozone said blinker fluid was on the shelf next to the deisel spark plugs and the coupling stretchers :biggrin2:
