The maxstart beats the MTP RC by 5. But that makes sense. The higher the CCA the lower the RC in the same case size I've noticed. A Group 27F should fit too. That's got a RC around 160-165 depending on brand.

Hit me up in a few years and I'll be able to tell you about Interstate batteries from Costco. I've installed five of them in the last six months - three to replace A-Zone batteries that failed prematurely on three different vehicles and two more deep cycle batteries for my trailer.

All I know for sure at this point is they are a lot less expensive than A-Zone batteries and Consumer Reports doesn't hate them.

I just replaced my CostCo branded Interstate 24F last month after almost 4.5 years of dd service... it was still working fine but I figured it was on the last leg of it's life already and jumped onboard the Northstar battery group buy we've had on here a couple months ago. Cant speak to the long-term reliability if the Northstar yet, but that CostCo battery sure held its own for the price.

I have a group 34 sears die hard platinum and had to run longer cables.
I'm at the 5 year mark and going strong. Had it on a storage charger for 6 months and it's still perfect. Just drove across country with it too.

Gets my vote.

I went with 24F Walmart battery. It has 3 year 100% replacement and 2 years prorated.
Avoid A-zone batteries.

One more thing, that Big Three upgrade, it is adding new wires to the existing wires.
I know the Japanese wires are capable of carrying a good amount of current compared to similar sized wires made by other manufacturers (like Denso Vs other brands). Anybody witnessed any improvements after doing the big-3?

It's not going to add some magic improvement and gain 20 HP or anything like that, just to allow a larger flow capacity to power-hungry components without worrying with blowing a fuse. I did it to add and external lighting, a 300 PSI fluid pump and a subwoofer without causing issues, especially at idle.

Ya I actually was looking for one fo r my trailer and didn't see them either. I'm at my 5 year mark so I'm out of the warranty anyway.

I'll prob get an oddesy for the next one as my battery cage is for that battery and as far as I know the die hard platinum was a relabeled version.

I was set on the Walmart 24F MaxxStart but this thread got me researching.

I never loved the "Classic" Exide (basic model) that I'm running now because at tailgate parties, working in my driveway or @ drive in movies my stereo drained it quick compared to my old Die Hard Gold. But it's done it's job over the last 4 years & I've let it drain down to nothing a few times with the 4R sitting for weeks & the 2 amp trickle charger always brought it back to life. During my research there's nothing but glowing reviews for Exide so I'm gonna give them another shot & go with the badass "Exide Global Extreme , 24FX". It's only $20 more than the MaxxStart & they have it at Tractor Supply which isn't too far from my house.

The Maxxstart 24F is 130RC & 750cca. As soon as my Exide is dead, that's what I'll be getting.

That's good. I still have a Exide 550cca battery I'm nursing along. It's a spare starter battery. I should put it in the Old CJ7. And take the group 65 battery out since it doesn't fit in the battery tray well.

I chose to go with the Interstate MTP-24F
I was able to find one at a Firestone Dealer about a mile from my house.

FWIW: Autozone and Walmart batteries are made by the same company, Johnson Controls. Walmart does have the best price on a lot of sizes, just make sure you check out the cold cranking amps ( CCA) when you're comparing them. The Walmart battery for my A4 failed at about 14 months they replaced it no questions asked or hassles, which is a lot better than the grief Autozone gave me on a Duralast Gold battery in an F150 that failed after only 11 months.

The Walmart battery I bought in August 2016 for my Golf just failed. They replaced it with no hassles, the new one is a completely different design; I hope it last longer.
While Johnson Controls makes a lot of different brands, the big guys negotiate prices and JCI builds a battery to meet the price Walmart, Autozone or Advance are willing to pay.

Something I should have posted....all the batteries I now install have both side and top posts. So much easier for everything from install, accessories, jumping, charging etc.
