Bazuka monting

I am borrowing my friend's bazuka to haul fishing rods on a long distance trip. I've never seen it in person, only a picture here:

I just bought my SR5.

He asked if I had the cross rails but I only have the long side rails.

Can I just bunge cord it to a side rail? We'll be driving 15-16 hours, mostly hat highway speeds.

Anyone have any experience w/ either the bazuka or another, similar product and just attaching it to an OEM side rail?

What recommendations/experiences do/have you had?

Thanks,

I'd get some cross bars. If you bungee it to the side rail you risk it rubbing on your paint the whole trip.

Depending on how long you extend it you could strap it up to the interior ceiling too. Some might say its an accident hazard, but you'll have to be the judge on that.

+1 on the cross bars, OEM, Thule or Yakima. You're asking for roof/paint/side rail damage any other way.

Slightly used OEM crossbars get listed all of the time in the classifieds.
