Bedliner’d my bumpers

Wow, did you break any clips getting that stuff removed? It sucks they didn’t fully paint under the plastic pieces. I think I would spray over the primer either with matching blue paint,or even bedliner just for extra corrosion protection. Primer really isn’t great for stopping rust without a topcoat. Can’t wait to see the finished product!

I broke every clip. They’re not really worth the hassle to try to save so I just ripped them all off and bought new ones. It’s fully painted underneath, that’s just all the dirt and grime. I washed it all with a rag and it came clean.

I clicked the photos so they show in full size, the non body color areas may just be dirt. Although in the photo of the front fender, it almost looks like the area at the first clip hole (closest to the bumper) could've been "sanded down" all the years by the dirt stuck between the fender and flare and created a rusty spot.

As far as my research shows (and other posts on the forum have said this too) we're looking for CPA138-15 and CPA136-15 which can be found on amazon

Joined the forum just to follow how this turns out for you.

Have an 06 (white) that the dogs chewed on right at the junction between the wheel well and front bumper.

Body shop wants $900 to sand/fill/paint the area. That's not happening.

Been toying with the idea of doing exactly what you are tackling. Less money and an "upgrade".

I want to have this exact thing done on my 4runner also. (Fenders clearcoar fading/oxidizing on all abs parts, and scuffs on bumpers) I don’t really want to have the parts removed, do you think it’ll be successful or be crap if I don’t remove the bumpers fenders and side panels. Could it come out good with proper taping ?

Also I asked the local bed liner shop what they would charge to spray my bumpers, fenders, door panels, etc, they told me $900 and that’s without removing any bumper-parts/panels, I thought it sounded too expensive what do you guys think?

Various kits offer different amounts of the spray-on fluid, in bottles. Have you an idea just how much product would be required for the front and rear bumpers to be complete?

It took me 4 750ml bottles but I definitely could have done it with 3 if I did it all in one sitting.

I’m currently waiting on the weather stripping and glue strips to come in at the dealership and then I’ll be able to have it all back on. This ended up being $125 for the bedliner and $150 for strips and clips to put it all back on.

You could spray it with it all taped but I REALLY don’t think it would turn out well because there are so many spots where the plastic wraps around and inside/underneath that you’d have a lot of spots that look weird. To each their own though.

I’ve done this frame swap and all of the improvements as right as I know how so when I sat down to do this after about 5 pieces of tape I said screw it and started cracking everything off.

Some progress photos while I work on getting the rest of the clips in from Amazon and the adhesive strips from the dealership.

Also of note, make sure to rinse out the windshield runoff drains! Whoever owned the cab before me must have burried it at one point because there was some mud filling up the drainage channel and it rusted through so I hit it with some POR15 before it gets covered up again

Also, any variation in color is because I’m driving this thing to work as I put the panels on so some have different amounts of road dust and such.
