Belt length for CS-144 swap?

Hello,

I just have one quick question that I was hoping somebody here could help me with. I bought a CS-144 Alternator from a '97? Camaro and I'm planning to do the age old swap. What I can't seem to find anywhere whether or not it's T4R.org or any other website, is WHAT LENGTH BELT DO I NEED!? :redbrick:

I've heard some people (imply?) that they are using the factory belt; but 100 others say you *need* a "slightly longer belt". Can somebody tell me what that means, or if I'm so lucky....a part number? I'm rubbing my temples at this point trying to get to the bottom of this

I don't post much and I believe this may be my first but anyway. I did the alternator upgrade and used the same size belt that is used for the power steering. Hope that helps. I looked up DOC's CS144 upgrade and that's what somebody else had done.

"Short Belt: My existing alternator belt was too short. But the belt that I use for my power steering was a perfect fit, so I just used one of those. So just get another of whichever belt you use for your power steering."

If you can get a decent parts store guy, have them pull a stock alternator belt. Then look up the next size up belt, normally it's part of the manufacturer's part number sequence.
