belt retractor

06 4 Runner right rear seat belt is hung up. I plan on taking the panel that surrounds the belt guide off. I can see that the belt is twisted in the guide. I want to remove the panel just enough to access the guide. I see a little access panel by the guide. I was going to remove it, assuming there is a bolt under it. Is it safe to remove this access panel, or is it some sort of airbag panel? I don't think it has anything to do with airbag, but, I used to work on jet aircraft, and I don't touch anything until I know what it does. Appreciate any info. Thanks.......

Had a felocity I use to have when younger, "when in doubt, whip it out".

I opened mine up, but, enough to reach in there to add some washers and nuts to a fire extinguisher holder. Like when working on the front bumper area, (air bag sensor) in that location, just disconnect power to the battery.

So, is the little access panel up by the belt guide just a cover for a bolt?

Yes,I do believe so. I haven't checked, but, do believe the air bag assm is in there also.

The other little pop out panels in the back also for bolts. Probably pull the trim/seal strip out by the door and you should be able to get enough room to debolt and pull out enough to play with it. I think there was also some push in clip holders inside the panel.

Just disconnect the + power on battery and it will remove power to the system to play w/o setting it off.
