Best 33" Tire?

Hi! Sorry if this is repetitive - I have been trying to find my answer.. I just recently bought my first 3rd gen 4runner, and have also purchased a 3" rough country lift. I have found some 375/55/R16 33" Mickey Thompsons that I would love to throw on but not sure if they will fit OK. If anyone can give me some advice or what might be a better tire option I would really appreciate the help! Thanks so much

But I wouldn't suggest that size. Mickeys are good tires though, I run MTZs as do many others on here.

Yeah I definitely don't want to do any trimming, I also want to avoid spacers and just stick with the 3" lift. What size would you recommend then?? In terms of width?

are you running stock rims? If so I'm not sure you can run 285/75r16s without rubbing the UCA, hopefully somebody will chime in on that as I never ran stock wheels. But even if you could you will probably have to trim. I don't think I've heard of anybody running a full 33" without a little trimming. I wouldn't be afraid of a little trimming though. Its easy and you barely notice it. If you really really dont want to trim stick with a 32"

285 75 16. It's a 33 (32.8) at 11.5-12 in wide. It will clear with 3". Heard of some running the 315 but I don't know on those. Might try on my next set of tires.

one thing to add is the rough country lift is crap, it will sag withing 6 months or so....my front end sagged within a few months to about 1 inch lift from the 3 inches...the rear is alright though....before puting those tires on it upgrade your front coilovers and get some wheel spacers....

its an alright kit to get started...i got it 6 months ago just so i wasnt rideing stock....but i was planning on buying a better lift within the year...

one thing to add is the rough country lift is crap, it will sag withing 6 months or so....my front end sagged within a few months to about 1 inch lift from the 3 inches...the rear is alright though....before puting those tires on it upgrade your front coilovers and get some wheel spacers....

I had LT285/75r16 on the stock split tri-spokes on the 96 w/lift and yep, rubbed the upper a-arm and frame when turning without a spacer or adapter. I dunno about everybody else but the pinch weld had a talkin' to with the bfh and the lower valance was trimmed with a utility knife, easy enough. Wheel adapters fixed my clearance issues with frame and a-arm, plus the tundra brakes.

The LT265/75r16 on the Taco snowflakes on the stocker 99 rub a little on the frame at full lock and that's it.

What about pizza cutters? 255/85r16 iirc, but I have no experience with them on a 4Runner. Seems like they'd be more a-arm and frame friendly. Limited choices, though.

255/85r16 is a good size for a true 33", but they come in very limited selection.

My $0.02, find some 285/75r16 and it'll just take a little pounding of the pinch weld and some trimming of the lower valence in the front and call it good. No promises that you can clear the UCA with stock wheels though, I have no experience with that.

I have 285/75/16 cooper at/3's. If you want 33s get this size. but you will trim. if you want zero trimming get a little smaller. maybe 275/75 or 265/75. But you'll most likely have to trim a little with 33's.

I used to run stockers with just my 265/75/16's. Those are as wide as you can go without doing spacers. At full droop my tires would hit the UCA and bind.

I'd like to run a 255/85/16 but I don't like that the only one I can find right now is a mud terrain that's more expensive than any of the 285/75/16s I've seen. I don't think I've even seen any mud at all in the wheeling I've done here.
