Hey what would be the best alarm system to go with? I don't want one of those proximity alarms those are kinda annoying, what should I go with?

Im a compustar owner, they have great range, i use a 2 way system and my range is 3000 feet, theres a higher one thats 6000 feet, about or a lil over a mile range, mines close to a mile or less. All you need is add a glass sensor and hood pin, plus a tilt sensor if you got rims.

u are right i use my alarm alot, people ask me if i started my truck yet and i tell them i started my truck at the main entrance at the building, they go wow, thats hella far you can start the truck, theres about a 5 min walk from the parking lot to the building.

If you go with any reputable brand, like DEI or Computstar you will be fine. Personally, I like the VIPER brand (because of the remote shapes, lol), but most of the higher end DEI ones are pretty much all the same internals (ie. VIPER 5704 vs PYTHON 574) so just get the one you like and can get a good price on.
However, in my opinion the alarm is only as good as the installer, so pick your installer carefully...you can easily bypass a top of the line alarm installed by an amateur; and you can stump a thief for days with a bottom of the barrel alarm installed by a skilled professional.

This is absolutely critical. Do your research on installers in your area and even some outside of your area if necessary. I've seen some truly horrid alarm installs over the years.
Insist on installing the brain in a non-conventional location, insist on solder and shrink wrapped joints over cheap scotch locks or butt connections and electrical tape. Integrate the wiring into factory wire loom where possible, etc...
Ask to see some of their work. If they are worth anything then they shouldn't bat an eye at any one of these requests.
