91 for supercharger, it was $4.49/gal. :crybaby::nono::violin:
The highest gas ever got in that period of high gas prices back in 07 was $4.71 for premium.
We aren't that far off...

i have a safeway card so i get discounts on gas when i shop there. it really helps out a lot sometimes, i once got $1 off a gallon!

Gas prices are so high for many reasons. Speculation that the price will go even higher in future months due to political unrest in the Middle East causes the price to go up now. Demand in summer months does increase, but the real question isn't how much demand is driving up the price, it is how elastic the demand is. For instance, if the price of starbursts tripled, would most people stop buying them? Yes. If gas tripled, would people stop buying it? Not many. Gasoline's demand is very elastic, meaning that if the price raises, demand really doesn't change significantly. For this reason, those (OPEC) producing the resource know that the price of gasoline is not a function of a typical supply/demand model. In short, the reason why the price of gas is so high is that it can be. People will pay for it. And in my opinion, even at $5 a gallon, it is a steal of a deal. To think that you can pump 15 gallons of fuel into an enclosed, heated/cooled, safe, fast, quiet, comfortable box that will take you from A to B in just a couple of hours for $75 is nothing short of a miracle, if you ask me.
Furthermore, I find it sad that people (myself included from time to time) become so dissatisfied with the current state of "the economy". True, I'm not unemployed, and that would suck, but in terms of prosperity, we all live in a world that even the aristocrats of centuries ago would kill for. We fly across the world in less than a day, and if that is too much of a hassle, We carry little pieces of plastic in our pockets that allow us to literally communicate with anyone in the world at any time. We eat fresh food and have a virtually unlimited supply of clean water not only to drink, but to bathe with and wash our cars. The quality of healthcare we all have access to is amazing. People live longer than ever.
Don't get me wrong. I'm no hippy. We definitely have some issues to work out, but take a look around. Things are pretty freaking cool. $5 gas? I'll take it.
