Best interior LEDs for 2000?

I'm cringing making this thread because it's been covered so much. But with limited free time I'm trying to find the right set for my 2000, and a lot of the write ups and recommendations are a couple years old.

I remember hot spots being a pretty big problem with the swaps in the past and I wanted to kind of revive the topic and see if there were any new bulbs that help this? I'm trying to do the gauge cluster, key ring and hvac controls. Thanks amigos!

What color are you going for? I've tested just about all the LEDs out there and I can probably help you. You'll also want to do the ECT button, Rear Defrost and Rear Window switch.

I used wax paper in front of the LED's and it really helped with the hot spots.

wow i didnt even know the glove box had a light. i guess mine has been burnt out since 2002 lol.

I do like the Amber. I have a limited and it kinda goes with the woodgrain.

Anyways, I've bought from all three on that chart to use for the climate controls I repair and if your picking colors, any of the LEDs look nice. I like the ones from autolumination. This page has ALL the bulbs you'll need for the dash and buttons and such. I however only use these for my gauge backlights.

For the map lights and dome lights, that's totally personal preference as there's so many with one Led or an entire grid, so just pick what "brightness" you prefer. For this reason and because you didn't mention them I won't go into them.

I personally have the white LEDs for the 3 backlights on the gauge cluster. I tried blue and amber but the LED color washes out the colors in the gauges. For example with the blue LEDs the red needles look purple and the orange Kilo numbers look greenish. Here's my gauge cluster

I used the 3X 5630 Samsung for $5.99 ea. The ones right above on the web page weren't there when I made my purchase but they look like they might be even brighter and they're $1 cheaper. Go figure. If you're going with one of the colors I might be tempted to get the brightest LEDs possible. The wax paper is a great idea too. The Limited AC control uses a piece of thick wax paper to evenly spread the light behind the LCD.
One thing about autolumination however is they are the most expensive but they do have the best selection and they are the only one of the three that have purple or UV if you're into that.
Since you have an SR5, you need mostly #74s. I would probably buy MOST of my LEDs from www.superbrightleds.com They are the cheapest and I haven't had any problems with the #74 size bulbs. However, their T3 size NEO wedge LEDs (the one for the ECT, RR defrost and window switch)the base is loose in the hole it wedges into. For these I suggest getting a set of your preferred color from VLEDS They fit much better, almost too tight but you can pop them in and if you need to turn them 180 you can reposition them.

I had the blue in my 2000, same exterior color as yours. I put white in my 99. Just did the blue LEDs in someone's control and I'm seriously thinking about going back to it. Still don't like the colored gauge cluster however.

My head unit is blue and I think it would look much better matching

Yes, that's usually the main factor in the color decision. Of course some of these HUs can display a variety of different colors. Don't forget the buttons above your Digital Climate Control.

Actually already had them, they can be found basically anywhere since the dash bulbs are the same as a common turn signal bulb. I went a regular bulb behind my heater controls, I just have the switches not the fancy electronic doohicky.

Thanks for the tips! Looks awesome now. And the color is much better suited for prolonged night-time driving.
