Best looking running board replacement options?

Okay so I have been searching the forums and there seem to be a few discussions here and there about replacement side steps for the 4Runner, but I can't find a really definitive "best" and the threads are older. Due to the thin-ness of the side steps on my Limited, I end up scuffing my shoes with road salt every day now that it has been snowing here.

I have gotten some rubber shoe protectors, but now my passengers are getting scuffed because these things are too darn thin and I slip off of them when they are wet.

Has anyone done this recently? and what are your favorites?

The automatic ones look awesome but I can't justify the $ at the moment sadly.

I just want ones that have a bit more surface area and still have a bit of swag so they don't look too aftermarket.

I don't know if they make it for 5th gens though. If you want just a running boards - SR5/TE ones seems to be not as bad as LE ones (at least I don't have complains about them), but you'll spoil the look of you Limited.
