Best mods for $700-1000?

I did front and rear bumpers and sliders for just over $1000. I believe it was $1095 if I'm remembering what I paid for the sliders right. I could have saved a bunch of money by doing a more basic rear bumper mine ended up eating up a lot of tube. I could of done it for less than half that if I'd known a friend of a friend had a bender! :flipoff:
If I was in the OP's situation I would order myself a full set up from Budbuilt.com skid plates and buy some Trail-Gear sliders from a local vendor or a vendor off of Pirate4x4.com. Then I would find the local Toyota offroad club and find out who could weld on my sliders and get them to do that and also weld a big piece of plate steel to my gas tank skid. That's what I'd do. :dammit:

Thanks for the suggestions guys. As mentioned, my front bumer is already screwed, so a $2100 check from Geico will be taking care of the bodywork/ARB. I really really want a locker, but it may be just out of my price range. I'm thinking the following:

1. Gears - 33" 's struggle I can tell
2. Skid armor (LCA's belly pan and front skid -- need recommendations
3. Sliders - also could use some suggestions. I'd be getting ones with a kickout at the end.
4. Wheels - Preferably some Toyota rims that fit on the 285/75 Nittos'

You know if your going to have any left over from that of you could get that complete third with the arb locker installed and whatever gear ratio you want for that 1400 and stick it in the garage for a bit save another 400 and buy matching gears for the front and install it all , then you got new gears and the locker.

My point being If your planing on getting a locker best to install it when you are getting the gears , you save alot on labor that way and is over all cheaper , I know it sucks but it's just how it is ....

I do think gears are a good choice over all though if your going to bigger tires , better gas milage and power is a great addition anytime

I'm at first gonna go for new wheels. I have 285/75R16 Nitto Terra Grapplers mounted on my '02 Limited rims. Will they fit on 16x7 FJ rims and 16x7 Tundra rims? I'm looking to sell my coke bottle Limited rims and then pick up a set of either of the 2 aforementioned sets of rims. After wheels will be gears and a locker. Izzard you make a good point about saving on labor.

What about suggestions on front skids? Is BudBuilt the only route to go?

If you get the AOR bumper it will cost you A TON less than that ugly ARB that everyone and their mom has. and then you will be able to buy tons more stuff!

and you will have a way better bumper that is trail proven and looks WAAAY better!
