Best Performance Upgrades

I did the K&N CAI with heat shield & then I did the Flowmaster 50 series HD muffler from the cat back. I did not need to re do my exhaust piping because I have a SR5 ;) That's about all I can think of for budget tuned hell I only paid 250$ total for both those mods the CAI was found on craigslist & the muffler was doen at a buddies shop

And also, the cold air intake will make your filter extremely dirty which you MUST clean it frequently or else you would lose hp

If your cold air intake is a K&N or other cone intake you can buy a $15 dust sleeve for when you go out to the desert. That should keep it reasonably clean. I clean my filter about twice a year and haven't had any problems.

Also, depending on your mileage I would think adding a "charger" is a BAD idea. You have a 96 right? If you already have 200,000 miles then it is probably not a good idea, if you have 100,000 then maybe.

Dang that is a clean engine. Anywho, I would go for the cheaper effective mods too (deckplate, elbow removal, and an exhaust for a little hp and sound)

You can usually get free brake checks at places, hear it on the radio all the time.

Otherwise, you kinda posted in a thread that's from 2006, and you posted about something completely different (brake issue) than the thread (performance mods). Might want to make a new thread. Good luck with the brakes.

Resurrection

Alright so what are the best performance mods then? Other than the deck plate mod and exhaust. This thread is hilarious because those are the only two things listed. Hey OP do you still have your 3rd gen 10 years later?

Someone mentioned the supercharger too.

Any mod is a 'performance' mod. It's all a function of your goals. If your goal is to go fast, the first thing I'd do is buy a car! Even a slow car is faster than a fast 4runner.

It if were me and my money, I'd spend it on the "stage 0" upgrade-fix up the stuff that's worn out/broken as there inevitably will be plenty on a 20 year old truck. radiator and transmission cooler are a good place to start if it's an auto.

Supercharger. Turbocharger. Intake. Exhaust. Headers.

That's pretty much all we have.

How do I

Im interested in how to do this "deckplate mod". I couldnt find a how to via thread/post search. I would even be happy with just a link. Thanks

Can you please provide some information on what the 7th injector will do?

The long and skinny of it is hooking up a 7th fuel injector to your supercharger for even more power.
You're aware that post is 15 years old, right?
