Best speculation of a 2023 6th generation I have seen

Regardless of what MY the 6th gen comes out in (24 or 25,) I wonder how much lead time people will need if they want to assure themselves of a 5th gen before it goes away forever?

When Toyota finally releases definitive evidence that the 5th gen will no longer be available past calendar month X, there may be a mad rush from folks who have been, how's a polite way to describe it, procrastinating?

That last production year may be white knuckle for those who want a 5th gen but have been waiting...

I bet people waiting on the 6th gen will be shocking by a large price increase as well.

Yeah. If the Sequoia was any indication, it's going to be a 15+% increase over the current base.

I waited as long as I felt comfortable (been waiting to pull the trigger since last Fall) but, as soon as the teaser for the 40th Anniversary press release posted, I knew MY 2023 was the year for me.

I personally know of three people who are waiting, all for different reasons, but absolutely want a 5th gen. I hope they don't get caught off-guard by an unexpected Toyota timeline.

If you want a 6th gen, waiting for year 2 is wise. Toyota will probably produce a quality product regardless but even the now bulletproof 5th gen had roof and airbag issues early on.

I hope they keep the design somewhat unique. Every pickup looks the same now from the front - big and ugly rectangular grill. Sad.

I was thinking Sequoia too, but I don't feel like it's a good indicator considering the new one only comes with the premium powertrain.

Base line Tundra SR 4x2 price only increased by like $1500, which is like 4-5%

hmm, I will partially concede the point. You are correct with the base model Tundra but the Tundra has an SR trim level. The SR, 2-wheel drive, 6.5 ft double cab did indeed have a modest increase. Starting with the SR5 Tundra and up, the price jumped over MY2021.

The 4Runner, like the Sequoia, does not have an SR trim. If we compare SR5 (or above) to SR5 (or above,) we might be in for some sticker shock.

Yeah, that SR5 jump is closer to 15% from what I can find. Good point

I can't see the Tacoma and 4Runner being redesigned in the same MY. Tacoma will go first but you never know.

I thought it was widely believed that the 'Runner will come before the Taco as the Gen 5 'Runner design dates all the way back to 2009.

I haven't heard that. Speculation is that Toyota wants to get the new Taco out to compete with the other more recently updated small trucks and they sell about three times as many Tacomas, at least twice as many as the 4Runner.

Based on the two links above,

First link says, 920B (4th Gen Tacoma) will start production in December 2023. Second link says production starts August 2023. I'd guess that's 2024MY? Might announce at 2023 Chicago Auto Show?
610L(2) (6th Gen 4Runner) will start production in January 2024. I'd guess 2024MY as well? I don't think that'd get announced at the 2023 CAS, Maybe the Texas State Fair in September 2023?

I doubt it. That would be the job of the Lexus LX and maybe the upper trims of the Sequoia.

That seems to be the job of the LX600. Granted, they’re all sharing the same TNGA-F platform so the next 4Runners relation to the Land Cruiser is probably more than any previous generation from that standpoint. They’ve always been on a similar platform though.
