Best speculation of a 2023 6th generation I have seen

I think the side view is nice, the rear view a bit mini van like. The front view, I don’t mind the retro lights. It gives it more style. Not a fan of the grille something looks off to me. The interior is okay, lots of buttons which I get. I do agree about the use of too much plastic for a 60K vehicle. The interior could change though when it gets closer to production no?

Curious to see the 4 runner more now. Also, looks like Toyota getting rid of the roll up rear windows which is sad.

The rear window is anyone’s guess. I think they will keep it. The Tundra kept it and the 4Runner is known for it way more than the Tundra.

The difference is in the front and rear overhangs, the LC 250 has shorter front and rear overhangs for better approach and departure angles.

The comparison is little deceptive due to the parallax angle of the photos. I estimate the front is about 2" shorter and the rear is about 1" shorter, for the total difference of about 3".

Thank you; this makes perfect sense and lines up with what I suspected.

I still think the GX550 overhangs are "no-bueno" for true off-roading unless you're going to chop both your bumpers anyway (which just feels wrong on a likley $75K+ truck).

Glad to see Toyota was a bit smarter with this on the LC to get more useable numbers out of it.
 
Very useful image, TFR! That lower front piece on the new LC250 kinda looks removable to me, similar to the "EPA special" front air dam on the new Tacoma. I imagine the approach angle may be much nicer with that piece gone, if I'm correct.

We'll find out once soccer moms drive them over the curb dropping their kids off at school ;).
 
Toyota is quoting 27 combined MPG with the new Land Cruiser.

That is incredible and honestly borderline unbelievable. I'm curious if that's a mistake on the marketing team or if thats really what they expect the EPA rating to be.

Welcome to the new posters who are predicting the end of the 4Runner. It has been confirmed by Toyota insiders that the 6th gen 2025 4Runner will be revealed during the first quarter of 2024.

We have been discussing this for two years with leaks and insights from Toyota and industry insiders. To learn more, start here at this post where I have a running summary of the latest information.

This is the main speculation thread, however, Toyota has delayed the release by two years, so the thread title is out of date as the new 6th gen 4Runner will be released as a 2025 model.
 
Well as long as we're speculating, I imagine that as has been stated the Hybrid will only be available on the top level trims on the 4Runner, figuring the limited and the TRD pro.

So thinking about how Toyota positions, I would imagine that they price for parity on the Limited at around 55K and then price the TRD pro at around 10% more around 60-61K.

So unless they offer the Hybrid on a lower level trim, I suspect the value equation for me will fall at the 1958. Even though I'm pretty damned sure I'll like the looks of the 4runner better.

And just to give some background, because I haven't been here in a while. I'm coming from the V8 4Runner SR5 and I've been in a Porsche Macan GTS since.

I love the Porsche, but there is something so spectacular about the build quality coming out of Tahara, that I just have to have another one.

And even though I like the looks of the GX premium better, there is something about flying under the radar with the Landcruiser.

It's the FU for judging me I drive a Toyota, you ignorant F, you have no idea how hard and smart I work.

I might be exactly who they are targeting with the 1958.
 
My 100% guess...the new 4runner will be a "re-badged" LC with:

1. Part-time 4wd.

2. More basic styling...but same size.

3. Less luxury...less sound deadening, less features, thinner glass, thinner sheetmetal...but same underneath.

4. Same powertrain.

5. Cloth and Nuluxe...no leather option.

6. "TRD PRO" will have front disconnect and rear locker of course.

7. Non-TRD PRO will have optional rear locker.

8. 3rd row will be optional...you can see that LC rear cargo floor is high for no damn good reason...probably preparing some 4runner models to have 3rd row?

9. Maybe now made in USA to cut costs?

10. Probably price range $45k to $55k.

11. Tow rating 6000 lbs.

My hesitation on that being a 4Runner is that it lacks the signature C pillar. But mostly that it isn't a 3 row length. The LC not having a 3 row model tells me that the 4Runner has to have a 3rd row option. I would have expected it to be the reverse. But I think that they save the 3 row model for 4Runner since they didn't offer it in the LC.

That might be a new FJ Cruiser? The one on the other side is pretty clearly an EV SUV, but not sure where it would fit in the lineup unless they're going to have some sort of EV model that competes more with a Jeep GC.
 
4R gets a few years to rest before it comes back hard. Until then, our 5 gen skyrocket in resell value. Win win for everybody. lol

The cargo area of the LC is so high because it houses the battery for the hybrid system. I think they could make a third row work on top of it but it would likely take some reconfiguration for space in the footwell. Then you are left with a cargo area like the Sequoia meaning you have no room when the seat is up and no flat floor when the seat is folded.

I suspect that is the production version of the compact cruiser EV concept, will be interesting to see if its released as an EV or comes as a hybrid

I think this is the new 4runner. Maybe they are bringing out a new FJ but I doubt it. With the Grand Highlander giving a 3rd row seat I don't think the 4R will have a 3rd row, largely due to the hybrid battery. I also think the 4R will shrink slightly due to it being so close in size to the LC250.
