Best tires for pavement/highway driving???

Michelin makes an awesome all around street and highway tire.

I have to say my set of Michelin LTX M/S2s have been fantastic. I would highly recommend them to anyone who drive mostly on pavement. Great tire. The only downside is they are on the high end price-wise.

Check out the Bridgestone Dueler Alenza H/L too... I have used them on a few vehicles. As a purely on-road, no-snow tire, rain tire they're very good.

I have to agree. I have the Alenzas on my 4Runner right now. Installed them right before a trip from Louisiana to Colorado and they were extremely quiet and handled well everywhere I went. Definitely give them some consideration

I just put a set of Bridgestone Revo 2's on and I'm happy with them. They're quiet and they track well, but they did impact my gas mileage a little bit.

I have Michelin latitudes for street driving and they are the best. Terrible in mud but great, great, great in dry, wet and snow. Quiet as a mouse even at 80mph. Balance out with very little weight. Best pavement tires by far. Very not cheap though, 240-250each.

I’m going to have my Michelin Cross Terrains replaced with LTX M/S2s tomorrow.
I was wondering about the MPG of a supposedly softer tire…anyone notice a mileage increase or decease going to the M/S2? The Cross Terrains have UTQG of 420 vs. the M/S2 at 720, why the difference in a 65-70k tire? Seems like the M/S2 would be a “harder” compound tire.

Michelin Cross Terrains - exceptional tires!! Handle well, wear well, quiet, nothing not to like about them.

And as someone else suggested, get them at Costco, with the coupons, which come along about every 90 days or so, I think.

I just put a set of Bridgestone Revo 2's on and I'm happy with them. They're quiet and they track well, but they did impact my gas mileage a little bit.

While I'm very happy overall with my Revo 2's, I don't think they're the best as far as hydroplaning resistance. I had Destination AT's on my Tacoma, and thought those did better with resisting hydroplaning. Plus, they're about $200-$250 cheaper for a set of 4. Just something to consider.

I did purchase the Cross Terrains from Costco about 40K ago. Ever since mile one, there has been an issue with the balance of this set of tires. Nothing serious, but it’s “just there”. I haven’t forced the issue (much) since I don’t have the time or energy, but it shouldn’t be this difficult. It’s like a dripping faucet, nobody’s going to get hurt… just really annoying. What ever the cause (maybe just my misfortune) I’m biting the bullet and switching to the LTX M/S2’s. Hopefully they’ll be as good as I’ve heard.

I got a fantastic deal on my Michelin LTX MS2's. They are the no 1 rated tire on tirerack for highway all seasons. Rain traction is unbelievable. They are quiet and I think the warranty is 70k miles...
