Id be curious to hear more from anyone with the new BFGs as they rack up miles, especially rain, snow, and dirt trails, and heck even if they play in mud with them as Im sure they will pack up but still curious.
Ive run the old school BFG ATs on multiple rigs and Jeeps, and always great. However my 98 4runner is my 100 miles round trip commuter now, and the BFG ATs are aggresive for what Im using it for mainly. If I could quiet the ride and improve mpg any at all, next set of tires I was considering these new BFGs, or Nitto, or Open Country, or the Revos (which Ive had on another SUV and did great in snow and rain), or Falken Wildpeak, or Hanook ATM. Looking for a mild AT at least a step above an all season, good highway manners, but when I hit snow or rain wont kill me or have me white knuckling. And if I move to Colorado or West Virginia in two years, I will be able to do my hunting (snow, dirt, wet dirt roads) without totally peeling out everywhere.
I have **** Cepek FC-IIs on my 05 Rubicon, and they are decent highway, decent trail, good in snow and rain. But too aggresive for my 4runner needs right now. Man Im getting old, I used to run mudders on everything I owned. Now I like less vibration in the steering wheel, less noise, and for sure more mpg!!
Never heard of Falken or Hanook until recently, but they seem way cheaper...curious if that means cheaper quality too or wear life...
Im running 265/70-17 size tires load C BFG AT KOs right now on tundra rims. Will stick to same size next time, seems to be good size for the 2" lift, 5 speed, and 4.30 gearing.
Keep up the feedback for those of you with any experiences with these new breeds or less aggresive ATs!

Wow on some Tacoma forum guys seem to love the Hanook ATM "passenger rated" tire and think its does great as a daily driver and occasional wheeler, and great in snow...
Hmmmm...anyone in SoCa want to buy some 265/70-17 BFG ATs?!?! If I can unload them for a modest price maybe Ill try the Hanooks!

Honestly I do not know miles because I just bought the 4runner 3 weeks ago. I have no clue, but Im guessing they still have 75% tread left. I havent put a coin to them or inspected them at all, just got it registered, detailed, fluid changes, and been driving it 80 miles a day 3 days a week for grad school.
If I could get $400 for them I think Id be happy since Hanooks seem dirt cheap maybe that would cover half of their price mounted for me.
I quick skimmed them looks like they are $250 new...dang thats more than my 285s on 16" rims....thats the BFGs I mean, the Hanooks look like they are $150 range.

thanks, will do over weekend....crazy times for me being in my late 30s back in grad school full time, with a 1-2 hour commute each way in SoCa traffic....I finished grad school round (1) 11 years ago, and holy sh$t have things in college changed....everything involves technology and online this or that, they were talking about Blackboard, hell I havent seen one of them since elementary school, had no idea it was an online thing to get our assignments and turn them in etc....
So yea, this weekend for a study break (big physiology test on next Tues), Ill try to get to a tire store for them to measure, and snap some pics with my cell phone to try to post if thats possible...
Also get pricing on Hanooks out the door mounted and balanced....if I do any wheeling in this 4runner it will be mild, if Im going to do serious stuff Ill beat on the 05 Rubicon TJ as thats what I built it for....the 4runner I hope to do some family wheeling, camping, and in the future if I finish this masters and move to somewhere more rural or the mountains, get back into hunting and have it be my winter queen and hunting rig...I love my Jeep, always will have one, but Ive learned (especially after meeting a girl with two kids), that its impractical as heck haha...bad gas mileage, no room for storage, cant lock anything in it, etc...but the son of a gun can go places I never did back in the day with my K5s and full size rigs wheeling...
